    Default Chorus and flanger choices

I'm setting up my pedalboard. Im just a basement player so I don't plan to buy any boutique pedals. So far I have a Polara reverb, Donner Yellow Fall delay, BSIAB2 and should be receiving an MXR Phase 95 tomorrow. I plan to upgrade my delay at some point although the Donner isn't too shabby considering what I paid. For chorus and flanger, would the MXR models be ok or would I be better off with different ones?

MXR's will get the job done. Myself, I went the cheap route and use the Joyo Classic Flanger and TC Electronic 3rd Dimension Chorus. They are probably as good as any I've had for those effects, and they work for me, but your mileage may vary.

With the Joyo Flanger, you can set all the controls at noon and it's perfect for playing over distortion. There's also an "Unchained" setting I can pass along. The TC Electronic is the first Chorus I've used in front of an amp, and it sounds as good as if it were in a loop. I use it with buttons 1 and 3 pressed down.

I'm a huge fan of MXR pedals. Their choruses and the two full size Flangers (standard and EVH) do sound great.

But if you want to cover both effects in one pedal I'd recommend the TC Electronic Dreamscape. It's got two chorus models, two vibrato models, and two flanger models - one of which is a model of the MXR EVH Flanger. It's single pedal sized, 9V, cheaper, and covers both my chorus and flange needs.

Nice! I didn't even think about trying for 1 pedal for both effects
