No, I think Coulda and Jape and a few others have professed affection for DITS lol.

I think I might be the only one who thinks WHATGTG is superior to YRGM.

Actually, if they had dropped PW and DITS, and added Big Trouble and their blazing cover of Summertime Blues, whew, what an amazing VH album we'd have. VH owned Summertime Blues, even more so than the Who's cover of it, and they played it a few times on the DD tour. It is still my all time favorite VH cover.

Summertime Blues would've been perfect for Diver, no doubt.

TBH, I"ve never been a big fan of the covers EVH and DLR selected to put on albums, from YRGM to YNG to WHATGTG to PW...I give slight favors to DITS and APB...and of course, ICM tends to be the sole exception for me....but generally speaking, there was SO much to choose from, and the selection vetting could've been a bit more stringent, IMO.

As we've all said a million times....some far better covers they did back in the clubs that ought to have made it onto studio records?

    Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers
    La Grange
    Born on the Bayou
    Jean Genie
    Brown Sugar
    Mississippi Queen

Heck, virtually any old school ZZ track would've been epic if properly Halenized.

I do really love YNG. A bunch of specific reasons why, that I've recounted in other threads here before.

I still think they wouldve done an incredible Roadhouse Blues with Dave back in the day.

I have always liked VH's cover of DITS. The background vocals are stellar and Ed's solo is top notch.

Oh yes, any of the 'harder' Doors tracks would've been fine choices. RB, for sure. Peace Frog. Waiting for the Sun. Hello I Love You. LA Woman. Love Her Madly. Five to One.

And I think I would've picked better Kinks tracks than YRGM and WHATGTG. All Day and All of the Night. Sunny Afternoon. Apeman. Well Respected Man. Dedicated Follower of Fashion.

The song itself still sucks balls. I'm not sure there is one song on the six pack that doesnt have stellar background vocals or guitar solo, other than the rare few tunes in the six pack that dont have those two things.

VH did do a blazing All Day And All Of The Night during the club days. That is my personal all time favorite tune by the Kinks.

I think YRGM was a perfect choice. VH killed it with that cover, as history has shown.

It's one of the best, no question. I split my Kinks loyalties between two eras, their early Village Green days with those classic 60's grooves, and their latter day 80's era, with sub New Wave tracks like GTPWTW, Destroyer, Low Budget, Attitude, Art Lover, Living on a Thin Line, Around the Dial, Superman, Misery, etc. Actually, Word of Mouth was a pretty great album for them so late in their career.

This wouldn't have made a particularly good cover for VH, but it is probably my favorite Kinks' song …

I love that mid period/KINKS dominate America period, in the mid to late 70's.

Okay, which Stones' song does this remind you of when the main riff kicks in at :54?

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"The truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth" - Todd Wagner
