The West standing together can make the Chinese think twice. We have immense power together. The problem is that nobody wants to test that. At some point you gotta leave the nest. China is our parents home and we don't wanna move out. Sooner or later we're gonna get kicked out.

    The plot thickens.

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai tells International Olympic Committee she is 'safe and well' in video call

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/21/sport...ntl/index.html

International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach held a video phone call with three-time Olympian Peng Shuai, the Olympics governing body announced on Sunday, amid a wave of global concern about Peng's wellbeing and whereabouts.

The two were accompanied on the video call by a Chinese sports official, Li Lingwei, as well as the Chair of the Athletes' Commission, Emma Terho. The IOC did not provide CNN access to the video.
The video comes after Peng, one of China's most recognizable sports stars, publicly accused former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of coercing her into sex at his home, according to screenshots of a since-deleted social media post dated November 2.
This comes off as insanely suspicious.

I'd still put money on her being dead.

    Deep-fake, anybody?....

David Suzuki apologizes for ‘blown up’ pipelines remark after backlash from Alberta

Environmentalist David Suzuki issued an apology Thursday for saying pipelines would be “blown up” if the climate crisis is ignored.

Edmonton—David Suzuki issued an apology Thursday after he drew the ire of Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and others for comments last weekend in which the noted environmentalist remarked that pipelines could start being blown up in the face of climate inaction.

Suzuki made the comments on the pipelines during an interview with CHEK News on Saturday after a protest in Victoria, B.C.

“The next stage after this, there are going to be pipelines blown up if our leaders don’t pay attention to what’s going on,” Suzuki had said.

He subsequently clarified that he didn’t want to see pipelines bombed in a separate media interview with the National Post.

Still, the remark sparked an outcry from Kenney, whose province’s large oil and gas industry has been struggling for years under low oil prices and an uphill battle to get pipelines constructed.

“It’s absolutely an implicit or winking incitement to violence,” Kenney said earlier this week during a press conference.

“It’s like in the gangster movies where they say, you know, ‘nice little pipeline you’ve got there, it’d be a terrible thing if something happened to it.’”

Suzuki’s Thursday apology was posted online and said, in part, that his remarks were “poorly chosen.”

“Any suggestion that violence is inevitable is wrong and will not lead us to a desperately needed solution to the climate crisis,” he said. “My words were spoken out of extreme frustration and I apologize.”

Tensions have been high over climate change in recent weeks as storms on the East and West coasts of the country have swept through, causing extensive damage to businesses, homes, farms and infrastructure.

“We must find a way to stop the environmental damage we are doing to the planet and we must do so in a non-violent manner,” said Suzuki.

Over the past two weeks, after floods devastated southern British Columbia, people across Abbotsford stepped up and pitched in - emergency responders, elected officials, Indigenous leaders, community members, and volunteers.
I spent time with some of them today, to hear about their experiences and thank them for everything they have done. I also stopped by to thank members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have been deployed to the area. They're working around the clock, day in and day out, to make sure people and neighbourhoods are safe.

To everyone we met with, to everyone who has gotten involved, and to everyone who has been impacted by the recent extreme weather conditions: we will rebuild, together. - Justin Trudeau

Congratulations to Ryan Reynolds! The song by Steven Page is fun too!

Ryan Reynolds Got A Governor General's Award & The Tribute Brought Him To Tears
He said he wasn't crying and it was "just maple syrup."

In what might be one of the most touching Canadian moments ever, Ryan Reynolds received a Governor General's Performing Arts Award and he was brought to tears by the tribute.

Reynolds posted on social media about how he was honoured by the award and shared a clip of himself watching the video tribute. "I'm not crying. It's just maple syrup," he joked in the caption.

After receiving a medal as part of the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards, the Canadian actor was shown a video of Steven Page, co-founder of Barenaked Ladies, performing a song about how Canada loves him and has his back.

It also featured cameos from William Shatner, former Vancouver Canucks players and people from the organizations Reynolds supports, including Food Banks Canada and the SickKids Foundation.

After the video finished, he placed his hand on his chest right over his heart and took off his glasses to wipe away his tears.

"I'm glad I don't have to be dead to experience something like this. I'm so beyond touched right now," Reynolds said about the honour on Twitter.

He received the 2021 National Arts Centre Award as part of the Governor General's Awards this year, which recognizes extraordinary and significant work in the performing arts during the past performance year.

Reynolds has never been quiet about his Canadian roots and has shown his love for Canada countless times including recently when he donated to help people affected by the floods in his "home of B.C."

He even said he'd play the next James Bond if people wouldn't mind having a Canadian in the role!

Reynolds is a genuine, good soul by all accounts. His heart always seems to be in the right place.

But no, he cannot play James Bond.

Well, he needs to be British, first off. Maybe Australian, but British definitely.

Tom Hardy would be my first choice. Fassbender, in close second.

If I had to place money, I'd go with Regé-Jean Page. Bit of a dark horse (pun not intended) but I think he's gonna get the role.
