Yup. Pathetic. His acceptance speech should have been a resignation speech.

I of course don't see him as much as you guys do, but what I have seen and heard from him I don't like.

He's pretty, and he has the right last name, and in politics, it seems that is more than enough.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

That's the resume. If his name is Justin Smith then he's still teaching. He's not terrible and sadly "not terrible" is something you put on a political resume these days.

He faced no opposition for the past 18 months on covid. This was a leader that forced an election thinking he'd win a majority and was returned to the same minority he had. As far as I'm concerned, all he achieved was setting 600 million on fire. He should be embarrassed.

I said this to my girlfriend this morning...

Trudeau, like many politicians, is the guy who is looking at you...talking...and while he’s talking you think, ”This fucking guy is so full of shit, I can smell the corn.....”

Lesser of two evils? Yes. I think O’Toole was the same guy only on the other side of the aisle. And if I had to choose I’d choose the Liberal bullshitter over the Conservative bullshitter up here.

But he’s, like Mike has put it, an empty suit.

And he wasted $600 million to lose a handful of seats in our Parliament after saying he wouldn’t call an Election during this pandemic.

    Pointless. Expensively pointless.

Lesser of two evils voting eh?

This how you know for a fact someone's true political leanings (for the most part) despite the fact, that they'll insist they're "independent".

Like me? The lesser will always be Republican/Conservative but I fully admit that.

I think two C- level leaders faced off. I don't think it was pick between evils as much as search for a reason to not be indifferent. I would have been fine either winning.

Have you ever voted conservative before? I don't mean that to try and back you in a corner or "gotcha".

It SEEMS as if the Canadians on THIS site all vote Liberal. I could be wrong and
Canada isn't nearly as partisan as we are.

I hear the same shit all the time and that narrative is that, Conservatives WHOEVER they are are quacks.

I have. Certainly not as partisan as America but it's getting worse.

I thought Stephen Harper (our last PM - a conservative - was quite good and miles better than Justin).

This discussion has caused me to look into your country's politics.

I never paid any attention to it to my detriment.

You'll notice a lot of similarities to American politics but the more divisive issues (specifically gun laws and abortion) are not nearly as important. The liberals will throw them out to scare people from the conservatives but they have limited impact.

I think Otoole lost votes when he walked back the assault rifle ban.

I've said many times, Scheer and now O'Toole lost this election. The conservatives need to put Peter McKay up. He has the smarts, respect, mililtary background and resume for the job. He's from Atlantic Canada - which is generally liked by the rest of Canada... till they get someone better - we have years of minorities ahead of us. Good news is someone will pull the trigger in 2 years (note the sarcasm) - just in case we had an extra $650M that we wanted to toss in the fireplace.
