Default The VHLinks Classic Live Album Extravaganza And Tournament!

Hey, all the cool kids are doing it! You know the drill - a bunch of live albums picked by yours truly pitted head to head - pick your favourites. I tried to stick to the "classic" live album era and included albums I own and albums I have never even heard (thus creating match ups where I don't even have a vote!) - ones that I thought were truly classic and loved by members on the board here - hopefully no duds!

Voting ends when I get around to it - probably tomorrow night. Or I could turn it over to Coulda, but I fear that would be almost like turning the presidential election over to the folks in Cook County (just kidding!)

    Anyway - have at it:

The Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya-Yas Out (1970) vs. The Who Live At Leeds (1970)
Deep Purple Made In Japan (1972) vs. Led Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same (1976)
The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East (1971) vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd One More From The Road (1976)
Yes Yessongs (1973) vs. Genesis Seconds Out (1977)

KISS Alive! vs. AC/DC If You Want Blood You've Got It (1978)
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band Live Bullet (1976) vs. J. Geils Band Blow Your Face Out (1976)
Wings Wings Over America (1976) vs. The Kinks One For The Road (1980)
Peter Frampton Frampton Comes Alive! (1976) vs. Eric Clapton Just One Night (1980)

Rush All The World's A Stage (1976) vs. Queen Live Killers (1979)
Foghat Live (1977) vs. Blue Oyster Cult Some Enchanted Evening (1978)
Aerosmith Live Bootleg (1978) vs. Cheap Trick At Budokan (1979)
Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo! (1978) vs. Thin Lizzy Live And Dangerous (1978)

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Rust Never Sleeps (1979) vs. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live 1975-85 (1986)
Billy Joel Songs In The Attic (1981) vs. Journey Captured (1981)
Judas Priest Unleashed In The East (1979) vs. Motorhead No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith (1981)
The Scorpions World Wide Live (1985) vs. Iron Maiden Live After Death (1985)

    Live After Death

The only live album I like out of those listed. Not much for live albums.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Different Stages is still the definitive RUSH live album for me.

Dreamline as a RUSH opener is the equivalent in awesomeness to Unchained being a VH show opener.

Strangers In The Night is an epic live album. Probably my all-time favorite, along with Cheap Trick At Budokan.

came down to All The World's A Stage and Exit...Stage Left - but in the end All The World's A Stage is the one that sticks in my mind as I believe that is the album a childhood friend brought over and said "these guys sound like Led Zeppelin" and after a bit of listening I thought to myself, "if these guys are supposed to sound like Led Zeppelin, they are doing it wrong". And put me off from giving Rush a chance for some 25 years - which is unfortunate...

I think it did get some consideration, but since I'm not familiar with UFO, wouldn't have known who to pair them with in the initial round.

You stuck to the classic era for your contest, which is great. But if you'd expanded to modern era live records, I'd have put The Police - Certifiable in there, and probably would've bumped All the World's a Stage or even Exit Stage Left for Rush in Rio or R-30.

R-30 is a master class in live prowess.
