I hate barrel jacks!!

The barrel jack on my 5150 is loose and my fingers are not small enough to get in there and tighten the hex nut. Even my daughter couldn’t get her fingers in there. I can’t even get a needle nose in there to turn it. And even if I could it would be almost impossible to get any leverage. The only way I can think of doing it is to desolder it, go buy a deep socket to get in there to reach it, tighten (which still isn’t easy because you have to somehow hold the jack from the outside while you turn the hex), and then solder it again. *sigh* Does anyone have a suggestion of another way apart from that? I hate these fuckers!

How deep is that route? I haven’t gotten to the point of installing that jack yet so you may have just saved me some pain. Time to find my bottle of loctite...

I always used a really small pair of needles nose...

Guys, just put a plastic bushing in there. I took the time to shape mine to fit the inside curve, a flat couldn't be any easier.
I put this in 35 years ago, never had a problem;



I countersunk mine too, for improved aerodynamics, LOL!
But as you can see, my jack aim isn't so good, LOL!

I don’t know maybe it’s not that deep but I’m gonna try with a needle nose.

They do make angled needle nose pliers, harbor freight has got them for 4 bucks.

Those things suck. My Wolfgang's is always coming loose, and I jack up my fingers trying to tighten it, and needle nose gets nearly no grip/leverage either, so it's only ever barely tightened and inevitably always coming loose.
Maybe those crooked needle nose would work better as suggested (not that I have any).
