Default My New Project - A Sharkocaster

    Thanks dude!!

Yeah once I had all the parts it took me like a week. I didnít rush or anything. Thatís just how long it takes me if I donít screw up. There are a few imperfections in this one, but I didnít think any were bad enough to warrant even fixing them. I just left them as is.

Hardest thing to find was that damn brass jack plate. Basically it was impossible, I just happened to be looking on eBay the other night and a guy put up a bunch of them. I was like ďholy shit!Ē and bought one immediately. It was $12, but I wanted to have the brass plate on there.

Haha I would build one for somebody, it actually is a fairly easy guitar to do. But using the parts I did was pricey. I figured it out it with paint, tape, and all the parts it was about $800.

    Outstanding Brett!
    I've been watching your progress, with a unique interest;
You actually morphed my personal favorite Edward guitar, the Shark, with my least favorite Edward abominational excuse for a guitar (all of those Kramer POSs, don't know why, I just never liked them), and the Shark has prevailed! It came out excellent man!
I can almost see the blood in the water.

That neck looks very inviting. It almost looks like a Gibson size nut, in a slot, like a Fender.
I'm curious, how wide is it at that nut?
And I might have missed this, but is that a 25.5" or 24.75"?
I do miss the turnbuckles just a little, but the colors, and the rosewood, and the screwy hardware make up for it.
I also dig how the pick up even looks like an old DiMarzio Super Distortion, probably standard spaced, right?
Overall, that thing is awesome, very nice job Brett!

That's a beautiful guitar! Good job on this one.

I might have to start saving up to build a guitar of my own. Seeing this thread has really given me the itch.
    I'm just here.

You know Brett is gonna do it regardless. Trying to be all modest and The Rover would be nice.

LOL. That was like a lightspeed build.
The guitar gods were shinning down with the jack plate. How coool was that. Been a crappy year. Nice to hear you got some good fortune.

I'm gonna give it a try, eventually, If I totally suck at it I might just take you up on your offer, Brett.
Wow, $800...I woulda guessed at least a grand. Some serious goodies in there. Good value indeed.

I'm with Turnbuckle and everyone else. The neck just looks like it would be a dream to play. Congrats, dude! Homerun on this baby.

Default My New Project - A Sharkocaster

Thanks dude!! Yeah I added it up and it was about 800 bucks. And I didnít scrimp on anything really. The only thing I didnít spend a lot on was the neck pickup. I got it from Guitar Fetish, but it was one of their better ones and it does sound nice. Even the Pariah pickup was only like 110 bucks with shipping. And that thing flat out smokes.

Yes the neck is quite awesome. And Mitch did a pretty amazing job filing the nut for me, he didnít have to do that. I mean the action is super low and it doesnít buzz a bit. That was amazing he offered that. Of course he did tell me thatís not something he does for everybody, but I know that. I probably could have done it myself, but Iím glad I got to watch him do it just to get some pointers for the next time I need to.

Believe me I did not expect it to turn out this well.

It has been a horrible year except for my job and guitars. Oh and the site. Besides that, everything sucks. .

Oh wait I didnít tell you guys that a pipe exploded in our bathroom the other day and our home flooded and we have to get new flooring and my daughter I guess is getting a new bathroom, once everything is deemed dry. We had to call 911 and the fire department had to stop it. That was fun at 10 am on a Tuesday. The restoration peeps tore out her vanity, they tore out some of our carpet, they tore out our baseboards and crown moulding, and now we have fans running in the bathroom 24/7. But thank the heavens for insurance. But just pile that on to everything else.

I used Duplicolor for my 5150 and the Shark thing. All the other ones are either Krylon or Rustoleum. I think youíll be fine with any of those.
