Thumbs up Sammy Hagar on Van Halen’s - When It's Love

When It's Love is a great song! This was just posted a few days ago. I liked hearing how Sammy got inspired when he joined VH, about all the great background vocals he could now get, with Mike's great voice. He compares the high notes to Aretha Franklin. The interviewer seems like a true VH fan as well.
Right Now you're reading my post!

I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...

    Why?

Have you ever heard Ed sing by himself?

If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Yep. Ed is responsible for the sound of the backing vox as well, if you remove him it wouldn't sound the same.

The interviewer did mention Ed's contribution to backing vocals along with Mike, prior to playing the spot with Sammy.
Ed contributes to backgrounds, yes, but it's Mike who is much more identifiable.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I wouldn't disagree with that either, he has a much more soulful voice which has been pointed out in the past.
However, the background vocals for both VH III and ADKOT compared to the rest of the bands catalogue are much weaker.

Ed is a big factor, too. You can hear it on those Oakland vids. Sounds great with just Mike, or Dave and Mike, but when Ed comes in it's even better.

Hate the song but I liked when he sung a verse of WCTBL on that '98 tour.

Of course, it fills out the sound.
