Default SOURCE FOR QUALITY DRUM TRACKS?

I rip them off of youtube, but that's mostly pretty fruitless finding what I'm looking for, and the quality of those tracks is all over the place.

I looked at wikiloops, but not sure about that site, and prefer a free source.

Anyone know of a good source for downloadable drum tracks?

    Thanks

I can think of two places, one is free and one costs money (but very reasonable).

    The free one:

    https://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/bts/Van_Halen.htm

You have to do your digging around. Most are bass and drums, not drums only. Some are from the actual source tracks, some have vocals, some are computer created through a program like Guitar Pro.

    The one that charges you:

    https://www.karaoke-version.com/cust...e.html?aff=670

The customized tracks let you play around with each of the tracks. Not the actual source tracks, but not computer made versions either, these are made by actual musicians. I've uses these before when doing bass + vocal covers, and I think this is what Brett uses for his guitar covers. The nice things about these (at least for me) is that they are already decently mixed, so you don't have to go through all that work.

    Hope this helps.

I'm looking for straight up standard drum performances, not of covers, but, for example, a 70 bpm 4/4 drums only performance that I can use in production for songs I've written.

Here's an example of something I've done....

I took this drum track from youtube and ripped it to mp3

Then edited the drum track in Audacity to proper length of my song and a smooth sounding cut edit at the end, recorded my guitar tracks and my singers vocal track and produced this...

I'm looking for mostly rock drum tracks to act as my drummer on original songs.

Thanks Dave for sharing those links. Not what I'm looking for, but I appreciate you trying to help.

Have you ever tried to program them?

You can use EZ Drummer or Guitar Pro (which I use).

Or, you can buy loops, or whole song construction kits.

I've used this site before, they always have something available for free to download.

That BigFish has some neat stuff. I sampled a few things and there's some cool pure drum tracks. Pricey at around $100/pkg. I'll see if there's anything available for free that I could use.

Regarding drum machines. Never a fan, though I admit I haven't played around with one for a long time 'cause I just hate them. I far prefer a real human performance. The organic feel and sound of that vs. the sterile samply drum machine sound,, and drum machine cymbals make me cringe. A drum machine that actually did sound like real drums though would be cool.

    Thanks for the input, Dave.

I don't mean drum machines, the newer actual "real instruments" presets, you can get a good sounding kit. You can even program it to sound like your favorite drummer.

What I do is program the basic drum pattern, and then I add the fills from my drum kit. I can't play well enough for a full four minute song, but I can add some fills to make it sound more "human".
