Achievements:
1984.
It’s a wider variety of catchier tunes. Eddie’s peak in terms of creative lead playing. Production is fantastic too (part from HOP and GGB sounding like 5150).
VH2 is no slouch, but 1984 has several of my all time favorite VH songs.

I started typing and nearly talked myself out of my initial pick, which is 1984. I love that record, but must admit that I stop listening after HFT. I have never liked I'll Wait or Girl Gone Bad and House of Pain just gets lost on that side with the other losers. Yeah, you read that right Gravers. BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
VHII was certainly a statement that Van Halen was no fluke. While it has two of my favorite Dave era songs--DTNA and SGMAD--it just seemed like a step down from the debut. Then, of course, Van Halen blew everybody out of the water with Women and Children First.
