Default Oakland 81 - why no video for “Mean Street”?

Growing up in the Midwest, I always heard “Mean Street” on the radio. It was by far the most played track on radio from Fair Warning. I never heard “So This Is Love” and “Hear About It Later” on the radio. Wonder if you all had the same experience, which leads to the question, why wouldn’t they have filmed a video for “Mean Street”?

The list of questions as to why Van Halen didn't do certain things is almost endless.

Why didn't Dave lay off the coke and sauce before their biggest gig ever in Devore?
Why didn't Eddie let Dave go have his shot at the movies and keep him in the band anyway?
Why didn't Eddie release LWAN as a proper live record?
Why didn't Eddie release RHRN as a proper live record?
Why didn't Eddie let Sammy and Kari have their baby in peace, and keep him in the band anyway?
Why didn't Eddie truly let Dave come back in '96?
Why didn't Eddie ever strip down MWM and play it live?
Why didn't Eddie tell the truth to Dave in '96?
Why didn't Eddie use a proper producer for VH3?
Why didn't Sammy, Alex, and Mike refuse to tour in 04 with a debilitated Ed?
Why didn't Eddie and Sammy work a bit harder on the BOBW tracks before tacking them on to another Greatest Hits record?
Why didn't Dave, Al, and Wolfie refuse to tour in 07 with a debilitated Ed?
Why didn't Ed use BDLMA for one of the reworked ADKOT demos?
Why hasn't Ed ever bothered actively communicating with his fanbase like virtually every other artist on earth?
Why didn't Eddie figure photoshopping Mike off album covers might be take the wrong way by fans?
Why didn't Eddie directly inform Mike of his exile from a band he helped co-found?

LOL. Hmm. I could go on all day, I guess. And man, it kinda seems like someone's a bit more to blame than others. Huh.

    I always wondered that, too.

Out here, radio jumped on Mean Street first, then Unchained, then HAIL.

I wondered if they skipped it because it had an intro that maybe took a bit longer.
Then again, HAIL did as well.

But, yeah, it makes little sense.

Well on the FW tour Ed jumped right into the riff for the intro because he did the bass slapping/tapping part during his extended solo, so the intro for Mean Street would not have been as long as HAIL.

Pretty much just Mean Street and Unchained where I lived.

I would guess something about the performance they didn't like. Or, as James points out, they promoted it overseas. Mighta wanted to promote something else in the states.
