The IRS is completely overwhelmed. They have cut staff and drastically increased their responsibilities, they just don't have enough bodies, so they do what the USG does, they sub contract it out.

Perhaps not so coincidently, we've been filing through TurboTax for years although we didn't get any letter or email.

Me too I’ve probably been using them 16 or 17 years. I don’t really have difficult taxes.

We've gotten ours both times relatively quickly. I've filed through Turbo Tax the last couple of years and we've had the same bank account for over a decade with one of the world's largest banks, so it should be pretty straight forward for them to find us--and they did.

We got our Stim bucks in the mail today - $1,200 for my wife and I via a debit card. The card was in my name and at first we figured my wife would get a separate card but checking the balance, it was obvious "they" put both amounts in one name on one card. So married couples and couples with children would get one card with multiples of $600 per qualifying person.

Another thing - they may as well print "STEAL THIS LETTER" on the envelope as it's more than obvious it's a stimulus card inside. To activate the card, all you need is the person's soc sec number and the card itself. Finally, you better be activating it from a phone that doesn't have a blocked number or the automated system won't do it. My phone has a blocked number to other callers so I had to use my cell instead.

I did our taxes this weekend and should be getting a decent return thanks to the child tax credit. Also, despite being unemployed for several months thanks to the Corona virus stuff, we actually made more money this year than I did the year prior which was pleasantly surprising.

Got the latest round of Stim Bucks again on a debit card. As I said in my previous post, it's obvious what it is when it shows up in the envelope. Despite a few security steps, I think it would be ridiculously easy to steal and use these cards if you can get the person's social security number.

For me, COVID has led to the emergence of a new hobby. I got carried away with making furniture. I practice on simple items like leg benches and shelves. Equipped solid shelving in the garage, made bookshelves. First, I removed splinters from a tree using sandpaper, and not so long ago I ordered a Makita BO5041 Orbit Sander. The process of leveling the surface of the tree went many times faster!
