Default Do you think the brothers wish the Sammy era never existed?

If Sammy is to be believed, they've legally tried to stop him from performing the songs. We know they refuse to give permission for any other artist to perform these tracks on TV shows, or simply have the songs in any sort of media. In 2015 Eddie said that the era wasn't really seen as legitimate by the fans. If they could wish the era out of existence, would they?

I mean, it wouldn't affect their legacy, which was already set in stone with the debut and 1984, and Eddie would still have the instrumentals, so he wouldn't be losing music.

It absolutely would've affected the legacy, if they hadn't continued on with Dave and had been a defunct band since '84.

Sammy extended their longevity by 10 years plus.

But you're talking about hypothetical hindsight. Kinda pointless. I'm sure Ed's regretted any number of eras, songs, shows, and decisions regarding all three of his lead singers. He's a retroactive kinda guy.

I'm pretty sure their bank accounts don't regret the Sammy era.

So rumor has it, apparently EVH Inc. raised the rates on their old copyrights. Which has resulted in a number of product adjustments, including removing Good Enough from the diner scene in Spaceballs, where new DVD purchases and rentals on streaming services have replaced it with a different song.

I dunno if it's true or not, but if so....stupid.

Such a pathetic human being he is. DLR said so himself years ago. It's amazing that Sammy continues to embarrass himself by saying he wishes he was still "friends" with this scumbag.

Well, I wouldn’t go that far. But at this point in life, it definitely seems pretty silly to continue a grudge over a little bar in Cabo.

Why would anyone base their opinion of Ed based on his post breakup conduct with Sam and Dave. Ridiculous to think we know a fraction of what kind of human being Ed is. There have been far more glowing remarks by people who know him than negative ones. Which is pretty amazing considering his substance abuse issues.

I’m not advocating for Ed, just pointing out we don’t know him or how he acts and treats people on a day to day basis. So easy to judge based on sound bites by those trying to manage their own image as well as things he’s said out of context or in the moment; (like the 96 interview). We don’t know know the whole story or likely even a fraction of it.

    Judge much?

There’s valid judgements to be had.

The billboard 2015 interview. The 2007 photoshop fiasco. The backstage antics at the 96 mtv awards. To name but three.

Or charging hundreds off dollars for fans to see him be literally unable to play his own music in 2004, to not only never apologize for that, but to chastise fans for not being enthusiastic enough about the new songs played during that tour (Guitar World 2009).

Soundbites and or brief interviews as to their side of the story. Again, not taking their side, just stating a lot of people here have judged them based on very little evidence as to what kind of people they are day in and day out. Sam himself said he had 10 of the best years of his career with Ed followed by one horrible one when Ed was fucked up on drugs and dealing with serious mental issues.

I don’t know them and refuse to judge them based on the little information we get. Do you dispute many, many of their peers have stated what great humans they are? Could it be they are mostly great people who have bad days when a microphone is stuck in their face because the media basically only wants to talk about the dirt?

2004 was an anomaly and one tour out of how many? And at his lowest point. Yeah, Ed’s a scumbag. That one period of his life defines him. Sorry, agree to disagree.

Dude. It was not some spontaneous in the moment done in one day decision to photoshop mike off album covers. It was premeditated. It took effort and planning.

And nobody’s talking about all of them. Just one guy.
