How Do You Think EVH Views Himself?
I dunno about the rest of y'all, but while I understand that the coronavirus is real, and deadly for some, and while I don't minimize the threat of the virus, I am sick of the 24/7 coverage.
Therefore, I hope you might consider indulging my latest Van Halen brainstorm:
"What does EVH think of himself, in a professional sense?"
As I highlighted in another post, the band has how many songs in the can. Would anyone care to speculate? The follow up to III? The follow up to ADKOT? The 2000 sessions?
Retirement or not, EVH's behavior has me wondering what he thinks of his fanbase.
In light of his behavior towards us, and in light of Wolf's tweet - 'why are you having fun?! You owe us!' - I don't think that he cares much for us at all.
Many times has EVH stated, "I am just a guy who plays a guitar." I wonder if our clamoring for new Halen, has him thinking that it's just an excuse for a bunch of middle aged guys to go out and tailgate, get drunk, etc
Does EVH really see the depth of his brilliance? Now that I have finally picked up the guitar, at age 47, the depth of EVH's work astounds me all the more - and it isn't his technique or speed that astounds me. There's so many layers of nuances, in Van Halen music.
"Some people take Van Halen more seriously than we do"
If that's the way you see yourself, it'd make sense as to why he sees his fanbase as nothing more than a pain in the ass.
Has anyone met EVH? How do you think he sees himself in light of the music that he produces? Does he see himself as a Mozart, or does he see himself as a screwball kid turned adult who got lucky?"So the legacy of a band who is one of the greatest of all time will be stunted because of spoiled man-baby and his deranged mommy." - Brook
"when I heard Me Wise Magic on I-81 in 1996...I am thinking "what a fucking waste of time the last ten years were for Van Halen." - Dave's Dreidel
"It wasn't Ed's playing that inspired me, it was his spirit. The playing was merely a manifestation of that spirit." - Speedway

I think Eddie Van Halen views himself … in a mirror.

Man. I've not been keeping up with what's been going on with Ed or the band for so long, I kinda figured that EVH has retired and stepped into the shadows by this point.
What I am curious about though, what are his thoughts in regards to that brief porn-industry phase he had gone through in the early 2000s. That was bizarre AF.
