The older version I think has thicker black stripes on it.

Is there any sonic difference? I'm not sure which version I have....must be 9-10 yrs old tho.

That's my vinty M-117, pot codes to 1980. It has the old three prong AC cord, both jacks on one side, and the "not invented yet" invisible LED light, LOL!
I got it several years ago, just so I could get that wild ass flanged feedback sound at the end of LOC, but it has come in handy for a lot more parts than just that one.
The newer versions are pretty cool too, but IMHO don't have that old psychotic character.
I had wanted one since 1978, so yeah, it was time.
Sometimes, I plug in and just do that sound for like ten minutes..............
then turn it off and go make dinner![]()

Sometimes I just sit in practice, and run my hand up and down the strings with the flanger on. I love that sound.

Pickscrapes with it on are freaky nice too, like in On Fire.
BTW, I'm almost completely certain that Ed scraped the trem springs with the flanger on for the ATCWR intro,
not pounding on the Wurlitzer which I think was misquoted long ago.

I know its been discussed before but i couldn't find it. Whats the difference between the EVH model and the "regular" model being sold now, the MXR 117r? I'm kind of over the whole stripped thing honestly, but would still buy it, if it's a big improvement over the regular version. I understand the unchained button, anything else seperate the 2 models?
