    Default What Chord Is This?

I feel stupid asking this, but I have no one to ask; in the below clip, at mark 1.36-1.37, what chord is that please?

It's a sound that's prominent on many Van Halen songs, and I want to learn this chord, so as to get a better feel for how I want my guitar and amp to sound.

    Thanks

Can't tell by ear, could play and see. Sounds like either slide down 8th to 7th to 6th frets, fingering the g/d strings, and one step up on the b string, at least on the final chord. So 88 dg, 77 dg, 667 dgb. Anyways, just the two strings.

Might be wrong, though. Chord name? Don't know haha. Just use a tuner for that, or look up the fingering to get the name based on frets.

Sounds like he was incorporating the b string on the final chord with the vibrato.

I picked up my guitar, watched his fingering on .25 speed, then tried making it sound the same.

I don't have a guitar in my hands, but it sounds like he's playing major thirds. Probably the same frets Tyler pointed out, but G and B strings instead.

I thank you both, for giving me solid leads on what to play

Looks to me like he’s playing some double stops on the G and B strings.

Yea I couldn't tell with his index finger in the way. Didn't seem like he fretted the b until the last part.

Edit: not index finger, ring finger. Pick, slide down to 7th, then simultaneously slide down to the 6th - fret 7th on b - pick chord
