Anyway you guys live where you want but just keep your fucking opinions to yourself about places that really you donít know shit about.

Have you ever once read me talk trash about any ones home ever on here? Except to defend myself against this bullshit? I think it is classless and pathetic.

Yeah I could sell my home buy a mansion in Ohio. Hereís the thing I donít want to live in Ohio. Because Ohio is a shithole. How does that sound? Good?

Yeah I take it personally. Really fucking personally.
I have lived there brett. Not as much as you obviously but in the mid 2000ís I spent 3 months in the LA area and went back several times up until my dad passed.

Just wasnít for me. I gather you like it but cost benefit analysis for me, it wasnít for me. I donít like stuck up fake people. Iím sure not everyone is like that but it really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just like people in cities think all of us in Georgia are Mountain Dew drinking, gingivitis having, cousin fucking hillbillies. Thatís cool. Your experience could vary.

Every state has shitholes. Just look at plenty of places around Seattle or Tacoma up here. All I know is where I live, I have 12 acres, a creek running through the back of my property, a really nice 4BR, 3 Bath farmhouse, a 1200 sq ft shop where I built my drum room out in, no possibility of any houses being built close, room for the kids to play safely and the animals and Mrs JD's garden, and all for less than the cost of a house half the size of mine on a postage stamp lot in southern California. Nobody can pay you guys down there to live up here, well you couldn't pay me to live down there so we're even.

I obviously don't live in California -but have been going there yearly (ex this year) for +20 years....there is LOTS to love about California. The guac and burritos ... to die for! I think a lot of people confuse Los Angeles w/ California, meaning they think ALL of Cali is LA (particularly the bad areas). That's simply not the case. Yes, LA (like all major cities) has it's warts. But there is so much to love about that state. One of my favorites actually (San Diego is simply stunning)

I'd have zero issue living there. Food, history, water, beaches, weather - lots of amazing people...ya, I'm ok w/ that.

It's becoming a regulatory pain in the ass for business owners. One of the reasons DC suburbs are booming, no one really wants to be in DC for business, but wants to be in DC to DO business. Big difference.

You have to be able to recruit top level talent. And a ridiculous tax rate, plus a ridiculous cost of living makes other states more appealing for business owners. California is a great place to live, but I do believe Californians sometimes think it is the ONLY great place to live, and there are plenty of great places to live in this country.

For me to move to an area, the first thing I look at is "how much house can I afford", and for large parts of California, that is a big downgrade in comparison to other parts of the country.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Born and raised in California. I have no opinion on it anymore as I've been a Nevadan since I was 18. Disneyland is there. That's all I care about.

Yep, for me its the arrogance of some Californians who do act like it's the only great place in the country to live.

I will say this, I loved Paso Robles when I was down there to see VH there in 2013 with my cousin. Thats a great town, and where his Mother-in-law lives. And then I've seen a couple people on here bash it, calling it a podunk hillbilly place essentially. Its all about perspective. Give me farmlands, small towns, wildlife and scenery, room to shoot my guns and for my kids to play, and peaceful privacy and tranquility over crowded cities with homeless encampments and garbage and drug filled neighborhoods any day. I have to drive in to those places to work, I definitely don't want to live there.

I hear ya with the farmlands and quiet places away from the hustle and bustle. I live in the suburbs and I do enjoy it, but I think I'd prefer a little more space. What you have sounds great.

For almost 30 years my buddies and I have been heading up north in the fall for a weekend. This year (tomorrow actually) we're going to upstate NY. It's always been Vermont or New Hampshire. Rent a house by a lake or a mountain (or both). Nowadays it's more about catching up, eating good food, fishing, hiking, having some drinks, playing some cards and many, many laughs. It's funny how when we were younger it was more about drinking, and stupid shit and not really caring about what we ate. Now, a lot more attention is put into the food. Some of the guys have really established some good cooking skills. Looking forward to it--we rarely get to see everyone anymore, so I'm glad we still do this.
