I get he was trying to downplay the virus despite knowing it was serious. But he took that pretty far and wide, even having his people say it would never come here.

The successful countries acted immediately, did not believe China, ramped up testing, and put together a tracing system for exposure.

Our regulatory apparatus is so complicated that the mechanism to hurry vaccines slowed down testing. Then the CDC failed spectacularly and we missed the opportunity to get ahead by not letting private companies ramp up. We missed weeks of developing tests, putting us behind.

Meanwhile, the version of the virus that plowed through NYC was from Europe, which was a travel ban that came after China, but not soon enough to stop that.

In the midst, the press updates were a mess, he would contradict the experts, he flouted guidelines and masks. I donít know if the Obama pandemic plan was worth anything but he threw it out and didnít seem to replace it with anything coherent.

The one thing the Feds are good for in these situations is coordinating state efforts and helping implement a tracing plan across all 50. He didnít do that.

One intangible was the lack of appearance of stoic leadership. Things seemed jumbled and he didnít communicate effectively.

We could parse out what was his fault, what wasnít, and what he isnít capable of in the first place, but thatís not how people are going to look at it. Theyíre going to look at the big picture and decide if he helped, hurt, or was neutral overall.

The buck stops here is the phrase, and you live and die by those absolutes.

I also donít think we can possibly understate the lack of effort for once the pandemic became very widespread.
The fact that he has interceded with CDC communications, weeded our the doctors on the task force that had extensive experience in epidemiology and immunology and brought in a guy with zero experience in either to preach the herd immunity.

This virus is not a Trumps fault, our poor health is not Trumps fault, but the tangled mess of the response for the last 6 months is 100% his fault.

People want to blame governors but the fact is, a pandemic needs a national response with one voice organizing it, leaving it up to the 50 states shows he had no idea what to do so he passed it off, not unlike when heís gotten in trouble in his businesses

I know people want to believe in these government agencies, but they have a history of incompetence. Before Trump was even elected.

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/202...40PiA.facebook

While I disagree with the writers take on obesity to some degree, the idea that that these government agencies where we'll functioning organizations before Trump is revisionist history.

Why should governors take some blame? If it's the feds job to do everything, why have governors at all?

The idea that any President of a country of this size and these issues would have been able to do that much is wishful thinking.

I'm not saying he was that great.

He didn't show the appropriate poise, he didn't do a good job of keeping people calm.... He said strange things and a number of times made a fool of himself.

However, I think the results largely would have been the same if say Hilary would have won

New research: Anti-ulcer drug shows promise in suppressing coronavirus

Researchers from Hong Kong have reported a novel antiviral strategy for treatment of Covid-19. They have found that a class of existing drugs, which are currently used in the treatment of other infectious diseases, can suppress replication of SARS-CoV-2 and relieve Covid-19 symptoms in an animal model.

Their findings are published in Nature Microbiology.

Generally, metal compounds are used as anti-microbial agents, but their antiviral activities have rarely been explored, the researchers said.

    Who knew??

From a South China Morning Post YouTube upload today:

Demand for sex toys is increasing in China, which is already the world's biggest exporter of bedroom aids, with millennials and women driving the countryís US$14.7 billion sex toy market. While attitudes towards sex in Chinaís traditionally conservative society had already been changing, the online retail market for sex toys has spiked amid the Covid-19 pandemic as people remain isolated at home and away from their partners.

Mail in ballots won’t be counted until election day (at least in PA). Further, according to polling, the overwhelming majority of Dems will be voting via mail (delayed result) and the majority of Repubs will be voting at the polling station on the day of the election. So regardless of who you think might win, there is little possibility that we will know by midnight based on the mailed ballots factor. Your hot take suggests that you are the one being a bit delusional. Don’t let your distaste for someone derail you from your common sense.

Yeah, there's a game of chicken going on, and I think this ends with Disney suing the state of California, because it is arbitrary. If they don't sue, I bet you they move every aspect of their company out of California except for the two parks themselves.

Why can you eat inside a restaurant in Orange County, and you can inside a restaurant in Downtown Disney, but you can't eat at a restaurant at all inside of Disneyland? Why can you go shopping at a mall and in Downtown Disney, but you can't go shopping in Disneyland? How come you can go to a zoo, including inside exhibits in Orange County, but you can't go look at things in Disneyland? Why are playgrounds open, but you can't ride something like the tea cups?

Why are you being told to put your mask on in between bites in a restaurant, but you can't go to an outdoor place at limited capacity with masks on full time?

The state would lose and Newsom's tier system, which has nothing to do with "flatten the curve," would be over. I really don't know why he is playing this game. Anaheim, CA, is going to be absolutely devastated from this.

The left in CA is aloof. The weather, the things to do, Hollywood, why would anyone leave? It's the reason it can be run like it has been and people mostly stay.

But that seems to have crossed, and if Disney moves all parts of the company from CA except those two parks, that's a good indication the regulatory and tax burden is too high. Many businesses have already gone. Our credit union just moved their main offices to AZ.

I once thought, even if I would never vote for him, that Newsom would be President in 2024. But now I wonder if he's just too confident about the draw of this state and it's going to get bad, fast.

Good friend of mine lives in northern California, and he's done. Successful software development firm, he's taking himself and about 90% of his employees to Charlotte early next year and closing his California offices.

There is a tipping point in which the nice weather and attractions simply aren't enough to make you want to live there.

Other than the weather, Southern California is a shithole. Northern California is awesome. But from San Fran down it sucks. Too many people and prices for everything are higher than Scott Weiland.

Earthquakes, taxes, immigrants, high gas and food prices, smog, heavy regulation. A view is only worth so much.

Yes Iíve been there many times.

Excuse me? And how many times have you been here Fudd?

Southern California is a shithole! Now Iíve heard everything. LMAO!!!!!

You guys are really embarrassing yourselves.

Oh my God we have earthquakes and immigrants. What a dump!!! I swear you guys donít even hear yourselves. I didnít know we had such racists on this website. Iím really embarrassed for you guys. I cannot believe the shit I read on here sometimes.

Thereís so much that I could say to this but I simply wouldnít stoop to the level of those of you engaging in it. Pretty sure I could tear the fuck out of where you live. There is a reason people want to live here and why it costs so much money.

And I would love if all the assholes from the east who have come here got the fuck out. Trust me it would be welcomed. Dreidels friend leaving is awesome. We need more of that.
