I actually recorded this the same day I did “Good Times, Bad Times,” that’s how I was able to get it up so fast. This one I’m actually really proud of, came out sounding good.

    Enjoy!

The worlsd is still waiting for you doing Hotel California with Brettify from YouTube, the dual guitar solo outros with you two would be awesome!!

Serious note Brett, that might be your best one. You fucking nailed that dude, congrats. Some day you are going to be not half bad at this guitar thing.

Dear God, can you imagine the dissonance that would create?

You'd have one guy playing the right notes in tune and the other playing who knows what.

Oh thanks guys. Appreciate it. More Zep stuff coming. I may run the gamut on them. . I am going to do some more VH stuff soon too. I am just far more particular in making sure that it sounds like Ed’s guitar tone so it takes me a little more work.

I actually looked at his videos not too long ago and I think he actually might be trying to tune his guitar now. Dude still can’t play a lick but I think he’s actually attempting to tune.

What’s crazy is he often covers the exact same songs that I’ve been doing. Like he just recently did Fire Woman for example. And he’s done some Zeppelin too recently.

I don’t understand why he just doesn’t look at one of the thousands of videos on how to play the songs, or look at a transcription and figure out how to play it correctly in two seconds. He’s just got to be a total fucking idiot or he’s mentally disabled. And I don’t think he is.

I’d have to see if there is a full backing track for it. It’s not one of my favorite songs but I can look into it if I can find a backing track.

That did come out really good. Not just the playing but the tone and the mix as well.

How do you dial in those tones?

    Thanks man.

So I just always use an amp modeler when I record. It does give me some versatility to dial in a sound. Not that I would use my half stack in the house anyway, but it’s not a very versatile option either.

I usually use a program called Guitar Rig 5. It’s an older program but I like it and I know how to use it so that’s why I stick with it. There are better things out there but for me this works. One of the presets in it is called “Lotta Love,” so that’s obviously the Zep tone. I usually just use that to start and I tweak it from there. It does give me a starting point.

And then honestly sometimes it’s just luck. When I decided to record this song, I didn’t really think about what guitar to use, I just picked that one up and it worked well for it. Especially for the solo where I just put the selector on both pickups and that was like the perfect tone. Sometimes you know things happen and you don’t really know why.

But I’ll mess with the settings until I get something that sounds good, it doesn’t necessarily need to exactly match the song as long as it sounds good. Sometimes I get closer than others. Usually I’ll just use some compression or I’ll EQ the tone little bit, or I might take the amp distortion down and change the amp EQ. Nothing crazy. I try to keep it very simple.

Another great video and playing, Brett.

I watched this video last Saturday (or was it yesterday?) and I thought you did a great, really solid job there, man!

    Kudos, once again!!
