Default TheVocal Range of David Lee Roth

For almost half a century, David Lee Roth has been the embodiment of a larger-than-life superstar hard rock frontman and his singing has been equally praised. The fact isn't so surprising when one realises that, in addition to his tremendous personality, the Van Halen frontman possesses a vocal range of 5 octaves and 3 notes (ranging from E1 to A6), which makes him the most versatile old-school hard rock singer. If you're too lazy to dig out your old Van Halen records and hunt for David Lee Roth's lowest and highest sung notes, here's a little compilation:

It's Dave and Mike's vocals mixed together.

The 70's and early 80's were known for lead singers who sound great on record, like Paul Stanley,Gene Simmons and John Wetton.

Uhh, go listen to any VH bootlegs from the first two tours. Dave nailed On Fire and the screams night after night.

You can still be a Sam guy and give Dave his just due.

How many times did you see Van Halen live with Dave between 1978-1984? YouTube clips don't count.

This thread ought to go well.

I liked Dave back in the day. Saw him once with VH in 1984.

Axl Rose had a wider range than Dave. Both have the same problem now, like many other rock singers. I wouldn’t pay $1 to see either one of them perform today.

In fairness, they aren’t the only two. Not by a long shot!

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
