Default I’m sure it’s been discussed but I don’t recall..

What were the origins of the songs from ADKOT that weren’t demos? Songs like Y&YB, Chinatown, As Is, HBSD, Stay Frosty etc.

Were these riffs that Ed had that were perfected, or did Dave bring these to the table, or both? I’ve seen the videos where Dave told the meaning of, but I don’t recall the origins.

As Is riff was something EVH was playing around with - its in that Peavey NAMM appearance 2003 I think
HBSD riff similar to a DLR track - Flex

    AS-IS was a re-write of "2 Burritos and a Rootbeer Float"

    Earlier than that, friend.
Check some of those "Eddie behaving badly at NAMM" clips on YT. The As Is riff is in there, along with other stuff I wish had made the track on the album, even though I hardly ever listen to ADKOT nowadays...

Isn't it a bit (early version probbably?) of China Town starting from about 4:42?

"If you ever speak to me like that again, you better be wearing a cup" - EVH, 1996

It sounded more like a "maybe these chords might fit together....guess not."

Actually there's one more. The chorus melody ("Drive my search engine home...") is the same as as "Voodoo Queen"'s.

And the HBSD chorus melody is the same as "Scarecrow"'s from those sessions.

Another is the breakdown riff in "The Trouble with Never," which is the "Peace of Mind" main riff.

"China Town" might be a song Gary was referring to from the '99 sessions for the follow-up to VH3. He said it had a crazy tapping intro that sounded like aliens or something along those lines.
