    Default MXR EVH 5150 Chorus

Any of you guys using this? I just picked one up off eBay. Initial thoughts are that I really like the sound of it, but I’m not too sure what the best settings are for it in terms of the level switches, and whether to use buffered or true bypass. There seems to be a slight distortion, if that’s the right word, that it adds to a clean sound. Is the little red LED supposed to be on or off for optimal sound?

    Any thoughts?

This was the best demo I’ve seen on the EVH Chorus Pedal.

I won't be buying one, but yeah was a cool demo. Pretty happy with the guitars and effectsI have now, and that pedal wouldn't even fit on my current board.

I had one but ended up selling it and going back to my Boss PS6 Harmonists as thats a way better and more versatile pedal in my opinion and it gets the nice harmonized Dtune sound Ed had in the 90s so much better as it actually has a d tune setting on it. The 5150 Chorus is a good pedal but didnt suit my needs of sound as much as the PS6

I think the 5150 is a really great sounding chorus, but yes I agree it doesn’t do the Balance detune thing. I use a TC Electronic Brainwaves pedal in the loop for that - I made a really great TonePrint for it

It’s a cool pedal but seems pretty unnecessary.

This can be said for most pedals. At this point it's just a cash cow for companies, especially the "signature" stuff.

How many "Hendrix" fuzz/octave pedals can Dunlop come up with? The dude has been dead for close to 50 years.

How many different signature cry-baby wahs? They have like 15 of those now lol... Today I want to wah like Kirk Hamett, tomorrow I want to wah like slash, Sunday I want to Wah like Cantrell, Monday I want to wah like Hendrix... lol

And in the end, they all sound pretty Goddamned similar! Not exact of course, yet fairly close to the ballpark...

I agree we keep putting 5150 on everything now and yeah its cool but really most of it is just a cash cow for sure.... I love the Edward stuff but now Im kind of like ok guys common really.... we already have tons of options out there. Thats why I prefer my PS6 Harmonist cause it gets the Dtune job done and kicks ass. Its like VH releasing the singles sets now.... WHAT??!!!! give me a freakin break your releasing the same shit thats been out there for 40 years... common guys.... lets see b sides, unreleased tracks, live CDs or DVDs from each tour...... thats what we want.
    get a clue

I use a TC Electronic Brainwaves for the detune stuff - it works really well for that, especially given that you can go into the TonePrint editor and add in a touch of delay :-)

All the VH pedals are done now I think, and there’s 6L6 and EL34 versions of all the amps, so I can’t see what else they can do there?... maybe mini versions of the pedals.

Yeah, I’d love to see some new live DVD’s. How about finally releasing that show from the Balance tour? And a full show from the VHIII tour would be good. I have the Live In Australia DVD but it’s only an hour long unfortunately, which is about half the show.

The lack of any archival material from this band is insane. I’d understand if they were still making records and touring, but they do neither. Who knows how much pro shot material exists (audio and video) rotting away on a shelf somewhere.

They’re not the only band that does this. I know for a fact that there was a live show filmed on Extreme’s III Sides tour, and yet it’s never been released. So frustrating :-/

guys a lot of this shit is on youtube already. That's why bands don't waste money on DVDs and shit anymore. I haven't even used my DVD player in years. I stream from amazon or Netflix or youtube. It's all out there.... DVD's are about as dead as CD's at this point!
