I don't know how good the Celtics are going to be, but they should be fun to watch this year. Hoping the Kyrie stink washes out, and that Tatum goes back to what he was doing pre-Kobe influence.

They just locked Brown up for 4 years/$115 M. That's a big contract, and I'm not sold on the guy at all. I don't know all the rules - can they trade a guy they just re-signed?

Also heard some rumors about Hayward being moved. That one at least might make sense if they don't think they're a contender now.

They should/could be top 3 in the east. But at least they should be fun to watch again.

Also - have to give Ainge some credit. There were a LOT of people thinking the Celtics were toast if Kyrie left, and even more so without Kyrie AND Horford. Bringing in Kemba and Kanter were good moves that I think will keep them in that top tier in the east.

Of course, just when you're thinking okay, now it's up to the kids, he'll probably pull some huge deal out of his ass...

The top of the western conference and the bottom of the east are the most interesting story lines for me. Nuggets and both LA teams are so stacked and so different. Nuggets have great depth, and play and old fashioned team game but have a center who distributes like a point. Lakers have a nuclear armament of offensive star power while the Clips are the best defensive team in the NBA and by a lot. I tend to go with depth and defense in playoffs but in reality the sliver of difference will likely be who is hot and healthy at playoff time. Jazz, Trailblazers, Warriors are great but perhaps a level down.

The east top teams are meh, there is no rivalry or competition there. The bottom will be interesting how far does Toronto fall, will the Magic put together a second year of OK ball, who among the young teams takes a step up to become a playoff team. My guess is Atlanta takes the next step, I really like how they assembled a distinct talent pool. My Knicks will be better but unless someone steps up to be the guy at PG it will be progress as in less bad but no playoffs.

Players I find interesting this year
Lonzo - never been a fan but he looks way better, his shot is way smoother now
RJ Barrett - will not get much attention on a bad team but he is way better than expected and really looks like the first Knick in decades that can be a star
Kawhi - I'm curious can he stay healthy, plus he has some characters in his tribe will being home be an issue
Markel Fulz - fascinating story, saw him shoot over the summer and it still looks awful, has that much talent ever gone bust before it ever even launched? Hope he gets right

Jaylen Brown who is a solid player, but a 115M is insane money especially if the salary cap decreases as some fear it will in a couple years.

KD and Kyrie both have been booed at Yankee games. The B teams always will be in the respective markets and I'd imagine playing in the same building only makes it even a higher challenge for the clippers
