I went to the Devils home opener last night against the Jets. I usually go to just a handful of games each season so it was exciting to be there. Crazy game, Devils went up 4-0 then went on to lose it 5-4 in the OT shootout. N.J. has a lot of new faces this year: P.K. Subban, Wayne Simmonds, No. 1 draft pick Jack Hughes and last year's KHL scoring leader Nikita Gusev. It could be a fun season, I'm hoping.

Blues won an entertaining game last night in Toronto. It still feels like a dream that the Blues won the Stanley Cup last year. It's so strange to hear the announcers talking about the "defending champion" Blues and that they are the team other teams will measure themselves against this year. What a difference a year makes!

Also, while it's still early, Jordan Binnington looks like the same goalie we saw last year. There were some whispers about how he was going to come back to earth this year and that goalie could be an issue for the Blues. So far he looks excellent in net and has made some huge saves against high danger chances. On the radio this morning they said he's saved 13 of 15 high danger chances so far this year, which is crazy.

Flames have been pretty awful to start the year, hopefully they turn it around for when I'm in Columbus and Washington in a couple of weeks!

Vladimir Tarasenko is out 5 months for shoulder surgery. Could be more time though, they just committed to re-evaluating at 5 months. Crap.

There's a reason why it's so hard to repeat championships in hockey. Hell, it took us 51 years to get the first one, so it's greedy to think we'd get another one right away, right?

Since the Tarasenko injury the Blues have been getting enough offense to get it done. They're currently sitting atop the Western Conference after their win last night against the Oilers.

They also traded Robby Fabbri last night to Detroit for de la Rose which was a bit of a bummer, although I understand it. Fabbri has been snake bitten with injuries after coming up in his first and impressing in his rookie year. He was a quick skater and had a scoring touch and the sky was the limit. Then in his second year he suffered a terrible freak knee injury. He was on his way back when he suffered the same injury again in training camp, causing him to miss almost two years of hockey. That really set his development back and he's never quite recovered.

Now the Blues have guys that can roll into their top 6 and he's being leapfrogged in the depth chart. Meanwhile, Steen goes out with an injury and they want to add depth to their bottom 6, so Fabbri is out and de la Rose is in. Hopefully Fabbri can turn it around because he had a pretty promising career and he's in a contract year.

Went to the games last weekend in Columbus and Washington, what a time, met Giordano, Hamonic, Lucic, Monahan and GM Brad Treliving. Just amazing

I think I've maybe mentioned this before. Got a chance to mr Hockey himself several times. Fuck dude! Fucker had some crazy ass sized hands. Good dude and family. Out.
