It’s almost kickoff (if they do away with the kickoff, that will make the start of the seasons awkward!)

Although I have no stake in the game, Chicago vs. Green Bay is one of my favorite matchups.

I’m a lifelong Vikings fan as well originally from Chicago and I hate the Bears. Then and their 1985 sweaters they crack out every tine they have a good year, go Packers

No, when I got into it, I didn’t really know who was who. I was 9 years old, Vikes playing the Bears, Kramer got called for grounding, and the announcers were yelling how it was a horrible call, so I rooted for the team that got screwed, thus began the painful journey

Man, that was some ugly O-Line play last night, for both teams.

The first game is basically a training game now. It's only going to get worse when they get rid of exhibition season all together. You can thank cte and 20-30 million a year contracts. I turned it off after the first quarter.

Yes Mitch was overdrafted. He was also taken ahead of Watson as well. Local guy so there was a lot of chatter of the Browns at that time taking him over Garrett. Thank God they didn't.

Wasn't a pretty game though.

Looking ahead to Sunday.....

49ers have to play their first game at around 90 degrees plus brutal humidity in Tampa Bay. Not ideal conditions for Game #1 when most of the starters have barely played. Should be about as rough as the GB/Chi game on Offense. Get the IV bags ready!

that's going to be a problem if this keeps up - week 1 shouldn't be training camp. I understand not wanting to put your best players on the line for meaningless (maybe not as meaningless as we thought) pre season games, but there has to be a way to get them so that they are closer to game ready once the bell rings. I was looking for more from that game last night than Rodger's 2nd quarter drive.

Yep. They're not "meaningless" games, especially with the lack of practice time that these guys now have because of the CBA.

They're walking a fine line here. I understand the desire and need to keep your starters healthy and not get them hurt in games that don't count, but if the product on the field declines enough because of starters not playing in the pre-season and practice time being limited then they'll start losing fans and revenue.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Nagy is one of those coaches who decided not to play his starters at all, or very little during the pre-season. Well, he's now put himself in a hole by having a team that wasn't prepared to play week 1 and just lost a home game to a division rival. You can maybe get away with that when you have a veteran QB, but Trubisky is just starting his third season, he needs more reps than what he got and it showed.
