I’m one of the Blackmore fanatics on this board so maybe I’m biased.
That being said Mr. Page is right up there with him. They’re both on the all time most influential list in my opinion. Blackmore’s influence alone is gigantic. Two of the greatest he spawned were Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen. I don’t think I have to explain Mr. Page’s influence at all. Both Giants.
I prefer Ritchie because he has that melodic, dark & mysterious sound to his playing. He never solos for the sake of soloing, and always believed the most important thing was the song. Never sacrifice the song for the sake of soloing. Eddie learned this well, Yngwie not so much.
Page also had the same mentality. Fuck man, we’re talking about two giant mofos here.
