the main reason this song died with Sam was because Capitol had no idea what to do with him. there wasn't even a studio version of this song until Capitol started to repackage Sam's stuff after he left for Geffen (it's on the compilation Rematch). The only version before then was a live version he did for All Night Long. Capitol just dropped the ball with this. it might not have big as big as Springfield's as I believe he was already pretty famous at this time while Sam was still unknown to the general public.
