    Dire Straits Sultans of Swing.

I know Knopfler's tone and finger picking style is much different than Ed's however Edward has proven he can finger pick just fine in many of the famous Van Halen breakdowns etc. Big Al would would nail the drums especially with his snare tone alone, as for Dave he can just sing in that low range tone like he used in various parts throughout A different Kind of Truth.

    They ain’t covering anything anymore.

But back in the day, I think Halenized versions of Sabbath’s War Pigs, Zep’s Traveling Riverside Blues, or AC/DC’s The Jack would’ve been super cool.

The Doors did a great live version. VH could've recorded a terrific version I think.

I'll vote for some more Kinks tunes. Stick with a proven winner.

    Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf.
There was a rumour around 2000 that they had recorded a version of it...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

💘 Give The People What They Want....( the whole album)...

Just think...those lyrics to the title track were in 82 or so & now more pertinent than ever...even bypassing the Reality TV era....

    " Blow out your Brains
    And do it right!
    Make sure its Primetime
    On Saturday night"

I know, I know, ...you're wondering why did he click my post whats the point...

There is no point. Just cool to me to see someone here mention Give The People What They Want.

I have the remastered cd with yhe cardboard case as well as my original cassette tape & vinyl album from way back then. One of my favorite albums of all time.

💘 Art Lover holy 🐄 what a beautiful tune. Dynamite.

Although I disagree VH should cover any more Kinks tunes. You know they did do All Day & Night. You can hear the bootleg recording its on Youtube.

EVH did that thing with Sambora and Mellencamp where they played that.

Give the People What They Want was a truly epic record. Played the shit outta that album. Dave and Ray are actually considering one last old timer reunion tho their keyboardist just passed away unfortunately.

A Kinks reunion would be...beyond words. I only saw em once, on the Word of Mouth tour in 87 or 88.

The Kinks had a great renaissance in the early 80's even though they were always cranking out the albums. I love that 3 album run of GTPWTW, SOC & WOM.

Then they seemed to fall out of favor. Radio and MTV probably abandoned them after sucking them dry. I don't think I bought anything after Think Visual either. Hmmm? I might have some gaps to fill.
