    Default Hall of Fame question

I know only Mike and Sam showed up for the induction, but did Ed and/or Alex ever provide a statement or interview on the Hall of Fame induction?

Ed was apparently in rehab but what was the reason why Alex never appeared? Same thing?

You're never going to see Alex anywhere related to VH if Ed's not there. Alex has been sober for decades as far as anyone knows.

OK thread boy. How about asking all these random questions over in the Random Shit thread. It might flow a little better for you in one area.

Ed wasn't there so there was no way Alex and Dave (who had just joined the band again) were going to go. The timing sucks, but the fact that Eddie has finally gotten clean (although I don't think he was completely clean at the beginning of the 2007 tour) has saved his life and made his family's life better.

In the end, no complaints from my end, although I remember being pissed about it at the time. There are bigger things than silly acknowledgements from an organization that was clearly trying to capitalize on the fact they had regrouped with Dave the same year.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I see Alex as being the quiet one, really.
Always there with Ed, never alone. Granted Ed was also out pursuing guitar brands and stuff......but Alex seems like the guy that liked to have fun, but wasn't interested in doing it alone.

Eddie would go to a movie alone. Alex is never going unless someone else goes, too. That kind of thing.

    He's outgoing when he's out...............but that's when he's out.

The VH brothers are far too chickenshit to face Sam and/or Mike.

Eddie hiding out in rehab. My ass.

Well I think it was pretty well confirmed that he was in rehab around then, and his playing before and after that tour break in 2008 clearly reflected that. Having said that, yeah it's hard to imagine that even if they were just now being inducted this year after 11 years of sobriety and Mike and Sammy were there I still can't see the VH brothers attending anyway, so it was likely irrelevant. But maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, my feeling was he just did not want the hassle of seeing Sam & Mike.

Ed avoids stuff that makes him uncomfortable.

Eddie's Guitar God award from Spike TV more than made up for it, for me. Honestly.
Seeing those clips from the TWO main eras of the band, and hearing the accolades? Yeah!

Whether he was in rehab or not, I seem to remember his first public appearance after the RRHOF was at a NASCAR race where he had a fresh haircut, new teeth, and was tanned and had put on a few much needed pounds. It was a stark contrast to the look he had in the Rolling Stone band photo from just a few months earlier that was taken shortly after it was announced Dave was back.

I think it was both. Ed was probably in some form of rehab, and he was probably gun shy based upon how he looked to people in his last public appearances. But also, I think he has zero interest in talking to Sam and Mike, which he would have had to do unless he wanted to pull a CCR.

I think the RNRHOF is kind of lame, but a legacy act like VH should have been able to pull it together for one night. But that is just not in their nature.

    Edward was in a facility
Wolf and Dave were in but not announced
Not announcing Dave yet eliminated him or another 96
Ed was not signing out of rehab
    No ed no Alex

It went the only way it could. In fairness the band screws up a lot but they had no say on the timing of this event. Given the facts ALL unrelated to any former members there was no way it could be different. What leave rehab make some rushed announcement all to make a TV awards ceremony?
yeah cause we all saw in 04 the result of fuck rehab. The band did the right thing given the facts they can control. It sucks but is what it is

Imagine if 5150 had just come out & did huge sales, and VH were inducted.

You know Ed, Al, Sam & Mike, would show up, but would Dave?

I don't think Roth, in 1986, would pass up any opportunity to be seen on the
    big stage.

But, man, that would be awkward & entertaining.

I agree to a point, but Alex and DLR could have shown up. Ed being in rehab didn't make them unable to hop on a plane.
