Default Are Ed & Alex hermits?

I see Sammy, Mike, DLR, these guys are out and about, doing interviews, making music.

What exactly is the issue with the 2 brothers? It seems they rarely do interviews, they aren’t making music at least releasing anything. There has been one crap storm after another with members not in the band & yet they hide.

Is it safe to assume that Ed & Alex really only care about Ed and Alex & couldn’t give a fart about anyone else...?

They have money and they don't have to do anything if they don't want to, and apparently...they don't want to.

Sam and Mike have money and don't have to do anything if they don't want to (especially Sam)....but apparently, they want to.

    About that simple, I think.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

My feeling is they only care about family.
Seems like they have a tight knit circle, but it revolves around family, spouses,
    kids, and pets.

I think EVH, especially, is in a very comfortable place, which is why he keeps putting
    off any VH activity.

To him, we represent a Dental appointment:

Gotta get it over with at some point.

I don’t think they trust people. Since Eddie got sober he doesn’t seem like he is as trusting as he once was. Too many people have burned him in his eyes.

    Nothing wrong with family first.

I do miss the old Ed and Al who just LOVED playing because that's what they were born to do. But I'm not in my 60s and rich beyond what is needed, so my frame of reference, like most of us here, is going to be completely different from their reality. If they want to just kick back and enjoy the quiet life with their family, who's to say that is a bad thing?

I'm sure, like Neil Peart, Alex is also somewhat relieved to be retired (if they, in fact, are).

That guy played like an athlete, and i can't imagine the pain he experienced later in life.

Hey Al, let's do a tour!

I'm good, Ed...here on the sofa.

    Same here.

Lol, thinking of that conversation between Ed and Al and visualizing it made me laugh.

Every time Al would walk out from behind the kit and he take a bow with the band at the end of a gig these last three tours, he walked sooooo gingerly. You just know his back and neck didnt always feel good, but he has always delivered every night. I still hope to see him and the band blaze away at least one more time. Selfish, I know, but he and Ed are still so gifted, it's a shame they havent shared their gift more often with the world in their later years.

Can you imagine the pain these guys are in, just trying to sleep?

Didn't Dave claim he had to sleep on a chair?

Think of all the back, neck & knee pain.
If you have pain in those areas, it's a really profound pain.

Phil Anselmo got hooked on Heroin, attempting to stabilize his own back pain.

Yep, Dave said he cant lay down to sleep. I've dealt with some back issues this year, and it's not fun at all. It can be extremely difficult to just get comfortable, whether it's laying down to sleep or driving a car. I also cant just stand in one place for too long. Back will seize up and start to ache. I have to be moving, or atleast swaying back n forth from one foot to the other if I'm standing in a line or something.

A few times I've thrown my neck out while playing my drums and every time, for a couple days I couldnt turn my head to the left. I'll never forget the first time it ever happened, about 12 years ago, and it FREAKED me out. I seriously thought I broke something. My niece was a massage therapist at the time, and I called her all in a panic. She came over and worked on my neck and told me how I could massage it out on my own if it happened again, then proceeded to call me an idiot.

I get the same neck issue, just randomly.

I'll be in the shower & happen to move the wrong way.
It seizes up and i know i'm fucked for 48 hours.

Even laying your head down, hurts.

I haven't had it in a while, but it shows up at random times.

At this point, I think Ed would be tougher to find than Bigfoot!
