Default What One Song Exemplifies VH Definetly?

What is THE ONE VH song that exemplifies VH Definitively.

    We know it ain't Jump.

Ain't Talkin Bout Love, Unchained, Panama, ...

I'm cool with any of those.

Of course I mispelled definitively in the thread title & now can't seem to fix it.

That's probably an impossible question to answer. Too many great tunes that showcase the whole band.

It's a good question though...can't say I've noticed it being done before.

My idea is to pinpoint what VH fans percieve as being the best example of VH.

In case aliens landed or something. What VH song would you play for them first to show what VH are all about.

You guys have tons of " song vs song " threads,..." album vs album ", .....

The current Fools vs Take Your Whiskey Home...thread right now is over 20 pages....

I guess unless the thread is started by Coulda Hadda VH no one will post in it. Kind of a snooty popularity thing.

Fine. I dont care. To hell with the whole idea. Fuck it.

Very tough, and this changes for me reasonably often.

Today I go with Drop Dead Legs
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

Can't pick just one, but the top contenders for me will always be the usual suspects, that have all four members of the band shining throughout the song:

    Everybody Wants Some!!
    Romeo Delight
    Loss Of Control
    Mean Street
    In A Simple Rhyme
    Hear About It Later
    Unchained
    Girl Gone Bad
    Hot For Teacher
    Light Up The Sky
    "Dirty Movies"
    On Fire
    Feel Your Love Tonight
    Me Wise Magic

Lol, the list can go on and on and on...

Put a gun to my head and say I MUST choose only one, I'm going with:

    Everybody Wants Some!!

The massive, thundering jungle drums that are vintage Al, the chimpanzee squeals and Tarzan yell from Dave, the screaming whistles, twisting metal, and "talking" sounds of Ed's guitar, Mike's thumping bass, Dave's delivery with his signature squeals at the end of lines, an anthemic chorus, the power trio blazing away during the solo, a classic Dave breakdown that only he, and maybe Bon Scott, could deliver, the band blazing into the outro like a runaway freight train culminating with one of Dave's all time greatest screams. And the TONES. THE greatest guitar and drum tones by the Brothers.

Yep. I'm going with EWS. Still the champ of all hard rock songs for me, after all these years. It, and the entire WACF album will never get old for me.

The alien VH song has always been HFT.

Itís just how itíd have to be. Iíd prefer playing them HAIL....but HFT is the quintessential VH song. Has it all, and at full eleven.

Iíve thought about this at various points in the past and my answer has always tended to be In A Simple Rhyme. I think it probably still is, though Loss Of Control is up there in terms of classic Van Halenís wildness, sense of humour and virtuosity. And I agree with what Jungle Drummer about Everybody Wants Some so thatís up there too. Hell, if thereís an ALBUM that epitomises VH Iíd always say WACF from top to bottom. Just press play.

Iím The One. Blazing shuffle, Eddie letting loose the entire song, prime Dave, great BGVs, the cheeky doo-wop section, and the general fire the band is playing with.

In a Simple Rhyme and Hot For Teacher are both strong contenders as well.

I'd say "Hot for Teacher" is pretty much the one, even though personally, i have
    other favorites.

ATBL is another one that really defines how great this band was straight out of the gate.

There are a lot of good answers above. It's pretty difficult to pick just one. Here are my top 4, chronologically:

    (1) I'm The One
    (2) Everybody Wants Some!!
    (3) Hear About It Later
    (4) Hot For Teacher

The entire band really shines on these tracks with their superb musicianship on full display. I never get tired of any of these songs.

You can make good cases for every song that everyone has mentioned so far. And there are a bunch more songs that havent been mentioned yet that fine cases could be made. Exemplifies what an amazing band they are.
