Seems like Vegas got hit pretty hard which is weird because they’re far away from the epicenter.

Yeah, the shock waves travel differently through the ground depending on mountains or flat deserts, etc. and areas relatively closer to the epicenter may not feel the quake as strongly as a location farther away due to the topography/geography.
The '92 Big Bear/Landers quakes, my wife and I were in Laughlin staying on the top floor of one of the hotels and when the first one hit at around 4am, it was really scary. Woke us out of a dead sleep. The building *really* swayed and you could hear it cracking and straining with the movement. She had left the bathtub full from overnight and it completely sloshed out and emptied into our room and you could hear and see people running down the hallways and out of the casino into the front parking lot. After about 45 minutes, things calmed down and we went back to sleep only to get woken up again about 2 hours later when the 2nd big quake hit. That's when we started hearing reports of damage back home so we quickly packed, checked out and drove home. At home here in Huntington Beach, a lot of stuff had fallen out of cabinets in the kitchen and a couple big picture frames had fallen off the walls.

california earthquakes
Yeah those were big. I honestly don’t remember them being too bad where I was at the time. I must have been home in the valley since it was summertime.
But when we had with the Northridge quake in ‘94 I just thought we were dead. I was just waiting for the house to fall on us. I have never felt shaking like that in my life and it would not stop. It was throwing things everywhere, all I heard was glass breaking all over the house. My parents’ house was in shambles, but they basically got a new home from it. My room got so thrashed I had to sleep on the couch in the den for months. When I went outside, my car, which was parked next to the curb, had its front right wheel on the curb. The quake basically picked my car up and set it on the curb.
We then had to go and break my grandma out of her condo. She couldn’t get out, and it was like driving through a war zone with the destruction. My dad and I needed help to kick her door in to get her out, the building was all tweaked.
What an awful day.

That's where I don't agree with a lot of ppl - they pretend that TFA and the last one were problem-free. They weren't. Kylo Ren was badly written. Snoke - terrible. The red haired dude, agitated -...
