    Default F.U.C.K. vs OU812

Been a fan since 1980-ish and truly believes best VH-music was created during the classic era. But, I do appreciate and love the second era, too...a lot...but, The F.U.C.K.-album.......I've tried and tried and tried again (this last week)...but somehow it really doesn't touch me at all....Superb production, musicianship et al, but the songs? Just lame...sure a couple killer-tracks...but all-in-all their weakest effort....(not cointing III)....and having that said. OU812 gets a lot of slack....absolutely their worst-produced album (not counting III), but the SONGS where there. Not a regular poster, but flame away....just wanted to share my opnion

OU812 is far and away superior to FUCK. FUCK is a vastly overrated record as much as OU812 is a vastly underrated record.

Take the best out of both, have Andy Johns produce it, and you have a great album, but there is a lot of filler on both of them. Wide range of song quality.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Never undestood why Black'N'Blue was issued as a single off OU812.... Always skip that song...a true filler IMHO...

Definitely a song I liked when I was 17, and skip the hell out of now.

Heck, I love Black and Blue. The main riff is so tasty.

I think the only filler ish songs on OU812 are WIL and SOI. And even they have their strong points.

Conversely, I think FUCK has three solid tracks, and the rest is trash.

I know it's a ballad, but damn man, When It's Love is killer. Sam is singing out of his mind, it's a well constructed song, the guitar solo fits perfectly, and fucking A, the "nah nah nah" in the outro...harmonic perfection.

The harmonies in WIL are indeed among their best, no question.

The outro to Black and Blue is pretty cool.

Agreed, but the song is so fucking juvenile, I just can't get past it. I can understand why people like it, the riff is great, but the song is just dumb to me.

I was cranking the 2005 Japan remaster in the truck last night. AFU is still a fucking barn burner.

And I still think APB is great. Literally the only blues track they ever laid down post ‘82. Shame, I wish Sam had embraced more of his blues side. In CF, he slays BBTW too. Guess he’s too happy a guy lol.

I feel that way about Big Balls, or whatever it's called by AC/DC.
