Oh, nothing much. I was just wondering if there was anyone here that had any inside information on what will be coming out at summer NAMM for EVH stuff.

This seems to be tied to the Is Sammy Back In? thread, in a way.
One of the replies asked about a 'new' guitar at NAMM, and the reply was "I can't confirm that..." as opposed to a denial.

Others mentioned the legalities and huge costs of a potential Steinberger axe or Trans Trem guitar. So is Ed doing a striped Spirit headless guitar w/o the Trans Trem bridge? A budget friendly model?

You started this thread saying you heard about some interesting new stuff for NAMM this summer, but now it's oh nothing much? lol I see you're still trying to get someone else to mention the big secret so you don't have to. Fair enough, but I just can't imagine anything Ed could release that would be a shout out to Sam. Unless he could release something that would be a "FU" negative type of shout out to Sam. Not sure how he could do that either- no doubt he could find a way. ha So it's likely EVH will release some new gear, but no one will come to the conclusion that it was a shout out to Sam in any way. Even if Ed did release a guitar or some other piece of gear related to the Sam era, it would be more due to recognizing Ed's career and innovations at that time. Like a detune pedal with his W/D/W sound, that sort of thing.

I'm going to guess that it's some sort of reissue of the Steinberger guitar. They got around the legal issue with the 5150 by changing the headstock shape slightly. With the new management at Gibson, they might be more amenable to making a deal. I also remember a couple of years ago, the original was restored amid great fanfare on this site. Maybe restored to have a reference for a reissue? YMMV

I'll say it again. EVH/FENDER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH STEINBERGER/GIBSON. Believe what you want though.

Maybe he'll release a guitar from that era & call it the "Summer Nights" model, or something.

Maybe there's an advertisement, where he says:
Back in 1986 we made some pretty incredible music, and this guitar was a big part of it.

That could be a tribute of sorts.

LOL. I think Jape's advertising angle would be the only the way for this too happen.
Like most, I agree there's no gear that pays homage too Sam.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got the wood grain finished specials that were dug up pre-winter NAMM.
