Default Challenging Fender on their 78 Eruption accuracy

Not terribly impressed with Fender's latest attempt to replicate a VH guitar. Actually body and neck shape looks good, but painting?... I expect more from a company that gets to hold the actual guitar in their hands.
I need a strap and the full size Schaller M6 tuners still. You know, they're not hard to find, total drop of the ball for them to use M6-minis.

It seems like you get the period correct metal oil can, only if you opt for the $35K version.

If you go with the $14K version, you're going to be stuck with the plastic oil container.

I hear ya- they didn't do the greatest job on the $25K Frankenstein replica either. I was going to buy one when they dropped as low as $12K, but ended up going with a Judah Guitars EVH striped series that was converted and reliced into the Frankenstein. Has the EVH Frankenstein pickup installed, so I am most of the way there for many thousands less. Even if Fender did hold the original guitar in their hands it wouldn't help them too much with the painting because that guitar became the Frankenstein guitar with the red paint over top. Also, does the Fender B&W model have a Boogie Bodies style body or a strat body? For the highest-priced models I certainly would not want to have a regular strat body.

Well, one would hope they actually copied the body and neck shapes accurately, it’s definitely not a Strat, I know that. As far as striping accuracy you can see the black stripes through the red so having the original should have meant 100% accurate stripes. Logically Fender should have been able to simply not paint the red and been 90% there, but it really looks like they started over and missed the mark. Wrong tuners really ice the cake. It’s like the wrong reflectors on the red replica. The right tuners are available and the proper reflectors are too, not using them is just lazy.
