Default New Band: 6 Degrees of Van Halen (Bart Walsh and Billy Sheehan)

If they have "Van Halen" in the title, me thinks there could be some legal issues:

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/bil...ibute-project/

    http://www.vhnd.com/2019/04/26/6-degrees-of-van-halen/

According to Van Halen News Desk, guitarist Bart Walsh who played on David Lee Roth's "DLR Band" tours from 1999 to 2001 has launched a new band called 6 DEGREES OF VAN HALEN. The new group will perform old-school VAN HALEN including complete albums from start to finish.

Asked why he's doing this, Bart says: "It's simply the best fucking music to play live. If you want to go out and play... I'm sorry, but it just doesn't get any better than old VAN HALEN."

Players joining Walsh in the project so far include:

    * Billy Sheehan (DAVID LEE ROTH, MR. BIG) - Bass
    * Brett Tuggle (DAVID LEE ROTH, FLEETWOOD MAC) - Keyboards, Guitar
    * Paul Shortino (QUIET RIOT, ROUGH CUTT) - Vocals

This will be a fluid band, so that members can come as they can, and go as they need to. Bart wants to recruit multiple players for each spot, so that the band can play indefinitely, so that VAN HALEN fans can count on regular performances, no matter what other commitments the members might have. He definitely anticipates more band members to be added, even if they can only do a show or two. He sees the band's lineup as somewhat of a revolving door, but a permanent vehicle to celebrate VAN HALEN music.

    I love it.

I am gonna get flack for saying it, but, barring some unknown (to the fans) health issues, few bands have collectively done a greater disservice to their musical talent/gifting than has Van Halen.

    Seriously.

Of course, they have a right to retire and to live life as they see fit, but when you have a natural aptitude towards making music as the Van Halen's have, the hermit routine comes off as being unnatural.

I was lucky enough to see Sheehan when he toured with Vai for the G3 tour (w/Malmsteen and Satch). Awesome show - I was at the one filmed for the DVD! Anyways, Sheehan is a tremendous player - I'd check this out if they were close by. I had tickets in college to see Gregg Bissonette when he did a solo tour. I couldn't make that show and still disappointed!

I think he saw that the band is pretty much dead and so that there's some demand to hear CVH, whereas Sammy is still out and about representing his era of the band.
