Seems like he's really struggling in general at this show. Chris mentioned in his review that Sam admitted as much.

Yeah, I didn't want to go too far in saying it because the Redheads would come after me with pitchforks. He's struggling a little, but hell he's in his 70's, but I bet there with the decibels at 110+, you couldn't care less, you would just be pumped to be hearing 7th Seal live. I know I would be.

I've noticed that the old man has always sounded a bit rough at the beginning of a tour, going back to his 365/ 24/7 tour in 2007. Seems to get better as the tour progresses, but there is a sweet spot there as well. If he goes too long he starts having problems as well. I think he mentioned as much in the Jenny McCarthy interview
    Utilize. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

    I love coffee and sarcasm.

There was an interview he did a few years ago where he stated that's why he doesn't do long tours anymore, his voice can't handle it. But yeah, he sounds fine. I know if I was there and not listening to it on YouTube I would have given zero fucks, I'd have been rocking out.

He mentioned he was struggling that night.

    Not worried about it.

Hagar has delivered live every time I’ve seen him.

Why not give Mike a spot in the limelight...he could do Somebody Get Me A Doctor like the '98 & '04 Tours. That'd be cool I'm sure the crowd would dig it.

He takes lead on several verses live with CF and the Circle. He also sang RWTD in '05 on the Other Half tour.

yep, Mike's vocal chords get a workout at these shows. Also, the new song Affirmation is basically a dual vocal.

I'm really liking that tune so far. Hope the studio version is as good as the live one.

Best concert I've been to. Mike and Sam treated us like they were friends of ours jamming at a backyard bbq. Literally 4-5 feet from us the entire show. Got picks that Mikey gave us, finally got Sam to sign my drawing, completing 3 of 4 sigs (Ed will never sign), Mike signed a ticket, they were fist-bumping us, you name it. I barely noticed Vic and Jason and didn't care. Friends said the venue was full, but I don't think I even turned around to look, and didn't care. Both Sam and Mike look like they're 45 years old. Sam was wearing fucking skinny jeans and looked great for fucks sake. Best of Both Worlds was the highlight.

    I didn't even pee.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Pretty much, but BOBW was the surprise. I hadn't seen it on any lists I'd checked beforehand.
