Yamaha!! Fuck!! Help!!
So does anyone know how to work around this issue?
I bought my THR10X 4 years ago. I didn't create a Steinberg account for my Cubase because I didn't need it at the time but I cleverly saved the activation code in a doc on my computer and when I got my new laptop last year, I transferred everything over. Clever little me.
Well it turns out I'm not so clever after all because 2 weeks ago my laptop crashed and is deader than the Monty Python parrot and Steinberg are refusing to let me DL Cubase because they can't be sure I am the original owner of the THR and that someone else could have already claimed the free copy.
I need to get some recording done asap. I have Studio One but you can't plug direct in from the THR. I had sold my original audiobox as I had planned to move to the plug and play of Cubase so I spent the past week and a half scouring for and purchasing a replacement off eBay only to find out when it arrived yesterday that I have I have no way of hearing myself play when plugging the Yamaha into it as I don't have external speakers!!
ARGH!!!!!

Ever thought of migrating over to Pro Tools... they NOW have $39 USD monthly subs, and the cheaper interfaces from Focusrite ($200 USD) are NOW very stable with PT...

https://www.reaper.fm/download.php
Grab that, it's a full DAW as good as any of the others but is free/cheap, works with everything and doesn't need an 11ty trillion dollar computer to run.

I don't have a THR but it looks like it should work. Not sure on the monitoring. Brett uses one, so maybe message him.

Yamaha!! Fuck!! Help!!
I just plug my THR into my Mac through the USB port that’s provided when I use the THR. Then I record with Logic Pro. I don’t run it into any interface, just straight into a USB port. And yes the sound comes right out of the THR. I just turn the volume down on the THR so I can use the monitoring on Logic. I want to hear how it’s coming out through Logic.

So you plug your THR straight into your computer and you can hear sound coming from the THR just as you would when doing normal practising?

I use a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2. I don't have monitors for it, I use my Sony MDR-V6 headphones. Once I do the tracking, I mix on my $15 computer speakers! People seem to like my results.

Okay, I know I don't have the best patience in the world with software at the best of times but I've literally got to get a demo done almost immediately and don't have time for 20-50 minute tutorial videos so if you guys can help out with the following (Reaper) it would be much appreciated.
1) How to zoom in/out the record/playback wave thingy - like you can in Audacity - so that if you want to drill in super micro so you can pinpoint recording positions.
2) How to do drop in recording - where you highlight a specific section so even though you can start playback from an earlier point (so you can get read) and stop at a later one yet recording is only activated for that highlighted section.

I gave Reaper a try and found it to be the least common sense piece of software I have ever tried to operate.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

This doesn't help at all, but I use the Cakewalk Home Studio 2 that I got for Christmas back in 2005. I love it! I tried the new, free Bandlab Sonar, but found it hard on the eyes and convoluted to do the same things that are simple in the 2005 software. Has some nice features, though.
I guess I'm saying, go back to 2005 when things were made right.

And so the world's worst techie - knowledge-wise and patience-wise - returns. Has anyone got an easy fix for mixing and mastering in Reaper?
Do I pan the full-band backing track hard one way and my guitar hard the other way? Do I leave the backing track dead centre and me slightly (or a lot) to one side? Do I copy and paste my guitar and pan one hard left and the other hard right - either side of the dead centre backing track?
And is there any need to master? If so is there a button I can just press that does a decent enough job so that I sound good on You Tube? With the exception of 'Top Gun', when I listen to my vids alongside my mp3s, all my You Tube videos sound low and not as loud or clear, whereas other You Tuber audios fit in nicely with whatever pro-recorded tracks are in my play list.
Sorry, but just like Bon Scott, Brian Johnson, Steve Marriot, and all of the legendary PURE rock ‘n’ roll singers Dave doesn’t need to apologize for his voice. Especially when he was in his prime and...
