    Default 2019 Concerts thread

I know that quite a few of the posters here have basically sworn off going to concerts.

There is just something special about going to a concert, beyond the parking, and traffic. Hearing live music is an experience all it’s own.

Since it’s February, and the Mrs and I are empty-nesters for the past three years, we’ve been going to concerts, football gamess, baseball games, and basically any event that catches our attention.

So just thought it’s time for a thread about everyone’s concert expericences...ones attended this year and upcoming.

So far this year we’ve seen:

    Aaron Lewis (my pick)

-was taken to one of his shows last summer...I had no idea about his music...the show was an outside Texas venue...I had a great time, I really liked his music. My second show was in a theatre that usually has the off-broadway shows..it was acoustic, billed as a songs and stories show. Usually a storytellers style isn’t my type of thing but this was a very good show.

    Justin Timeberlake (her pick)
    - what can a I say? I’m happily married...the show was odd. The stage spanned the entire floor of the AT&T Center. He had these see through screens that came down from the overhead rigging for the video...I know 2, only 2 Justin Timberlake songs..SexyBack & Dance, Dance Dance...that said, I wasn’t bored...the guy is talented and can dance...pretty athletic dancing for a 38 year old.

Liza Schlesinger (Stand Up Comic...a very good show, I might add)
    -she’s funny, and mostly clean

    So far....Going to:

    P!nk (her pick)

    Garret T Capps

    Indian Well (tennis tournament)

Aaron Lewis...in Austin, Tx. Full band this time

The Rolling Stones (yeah, my pick)

The Who at the Hollywood Bowl (played the Kidney card...I donated a kidney to my wife 13 years ago.)

Steely Dan at the Beacon (that is contingent on if they play another Beacon Run like they have for the past few years...this will also be a reunion of sorts since two of my closest friend who live in different hemispheres will be meeting us there).

The US Open (We love Tennis)

Will undoubtably go to a few Orioles and Nationals Games...visiting our Daugher this summer...she lives in Eastern PA.

So how about the rest of the Linkers that still go to shows and events?

Due to a mention in this forum, I looked into seeing Tesla later this month. Tickets start at $50 and go to $200, then parking will be anywhere from $10 to $20. The Buckhead Theatre starts popping up in my Facebook feed with the slogan, "Life is short. Just buy the damn tickets."

FUCK YOU, Buckhead Theatre! Nothing could better convince me to put my Visa card back in my wallet than that arrogant slogan. Just drop the damn prices!

Good thing young people today can watch shit for free on YouTube. No sane person would shell out these prices.

I understand the frustration...granted I don’t only go to see bands that are nationally recognized...I’m going to see an act that has a few albums out on a label (not that that means anything anymore in this day and age) but four tickets cost......&20, total...$5.00 each...and parking is on the street so nada.

    Pending gigs....

Seeing Animal Liberation Orchestra locally per a near 20 year tradition. Jack Johnson's keyboardist Zach Gill has his own jam band reminiscent of the Dead and Phish...though they're far better than either of those more famous outfits.

G Love and Special Sauce at the Troubador.

I'll be at the same Stones show you're going to at the Rose Bowl.

That's all I got on the docket so far this year. I'm semi-retired from concert - going. Getting too old to elbow and mosh with the kiddies and the drunken unwashed masses.

Oh wait. Did I mention the Kitchen Sink Festival? July at Dodger Stadium...the Foo Fighters/Metallica/Guns N' Roses/Van Halen/Chris Stapleton/Jason Aldean. Helluva bill. Can't wait.

I've been going to concerts since 1984. Once I married my wife we try to see as many as we can. Now that we have 3 kids who are all old enough we are bringing them too. All 3 have seen Van Halen too!
So far this year we are all going to,
    Disturbed with 3 Days Grace
    Shinedown
    Iron Maiden
    Winery Dogs
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

The Circle if the schedule works

    VH if they tour

Small bands at the local theatre, holds 750

    That's it.

If VH was gonna tour, shouldn't Tix be going on sale soon?
Why is there no leaks to VH blocking time at various sheds around the country?
No looking good in my opinion

I'm seeing Iron Maiden this summer, possibly twice.

If someone worth seeing is playing within a couple hours of me, I'll see them.
    I'm just here.

Saw KISS last week. Got Queensryche and Fates Warning in April. Iron Maiden in September. Have an interest in Don Felder next month but it's on a Monday over the snowy mountains a couple hours away so likely no go.
