:::Am I The Only One Who Feels Like This Is Playing Out Like A Bad Rumor?
"Do we need a thread highlighting this?"
(Sadly, there isn't much else to discuss)
***
Everyone's expressed their opinions on the way that Wolf has handled the release of his music, but this thread seeks to get away from the opinion (technical/business) aspect of things.
On the basis of sheer emotion: does anyone else feel like Wolf's July 3rd announcement is playing out like a bad rumor?

The above announcement *feels* to me, like it's playing out as would a much hyped, but unsubstantiated, rumor.
It's really that bad.
I can't ever remember an artist putting forth official pieces of information that were seen to be so suspect by their fans, that fans are left feeling in their gut that their work will never see the light of day.Last edited by NDL; 11.24.18 at 08:55 PM.

I think Wolf is more in love with the idea of releasing his opus, instead of actually doing it.
Without releasing it, you can build into the fantasy: It's amazing! Years of hard work & it's
everything i had hoped. Wait until you hear it. Those that have, think it's incredible.
Wow. It's done!
It's like Cabo and the women he works with:
Texting all night, gorgeous ass, gonna happen, i'm in, the vibe is saying GO! GO! GO!
Ahh well...Sister seems pretty hot.Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...

Even Julian Lennon got off the pot & released "Valotte."
Wolf needs to realize his public is turning on him.
They were in his corner, but like the old "Rumor" thread, the angry birds are
getting restless.
He senses it, so he fights it with millennial snark.
Bad move, because then they really turn on you.
You gotta keep them on your side, feed them scraps (a song or two),
be humble, yet confident & informative.

I dunno...there's a part of me that agrees with your point, but...
Where's he going with all of this? The logical conclusion was that he would eventually spread his wings, and (maybe) start a band of his own. On his social media pages, I remembered him saying something to the effect of: 'bass player for Van Halen, for now.'
Seemingly anyone can recover from any gaffe nowadays, but how do you build up a solo project, drop the ball, and then face the public as if nothing ever took place?

I have no interest in Wolf's so-called album.
I'm much more interested in the forthcoming album from The Circle, or the unreleased DLR/John 5 recordings.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Nobody cares. He isn't known enough for anyone to care. His last name is not going to do it. His own father's last 'album' flopped. The brand name ain't enough.
Of course, if he WANTS to, he could change that.
By touring.
Nothing else will register his music as more than a blip. Playing gigs is how his Dad got there. It's how Dave and Sam and Al and Mike got there.
I dunno why anyone...the kid included...can think otherwise.

Who is his potential audience? A few old farts that like his dads band? Who else?
