It's being added to the other 10 albums his dad has in his desk.

This was in April of 2015:

Q: When do you think it will be released?
A: They put down seven basic tracks in January, [which] took them maybe three weeks. They’ll have something ready probably next year sometime.

I don't understand how any artist or band can even stand to work on the same 10 songs or whatever for years upon years...

From what I've heard, I don't think he's been working on the same songs for years. What he has been working on the last year or two are songs that he wrote after the original music, which Eddie was excited about in 2015. What he's been working on lately is the more recent stuff, because he's likes the newer stuff more.

In Wolf's defense, he's never announced any type of timetable for a release. Back in 2015, Ed said it won't be long, but Wolf (as we know) never released that original stuff. He just kept writing.

Gotcha Jeff, well I was just having a bit of fun. I DO believe we'll get it at some point. And my point still holds in many other cases though, it's hard for me to understand anyone spending years on 10 items of a few minutes each.

The same thing that happened the 40th anniversary tour, Sam and Mike coming back, a new album, the 36 demos recorded during ADKOT, the ten albums worth of new mateiral and the Loch Ness monster.

They are phantoms, a myth, something that will probably never happen.

But since I'm a VH fan, I only say "probably never happen"...;0

Tom Scholz was called in to put the finishing touches on it. Figure 2-3 years more.

Well, it kinda blows we'll never get to hear the initial stuff Ed was excited about.

Sounds like Wolf scrapped it and went into a new direction.

Had he released the original batch, then we'd be able to understand his growth
    with the new batch.

Instead, we'll only know the new direction, which seems kinda anti climactic, because
i was curious to hear what Ed classified as "badass."

Seriously, we're going into 2019 now, it's just silly at this point with the band itself &
    Wolf's opus.

Edward V pointed to the Tom Scholz comparison, took years to release the final product. The final product was pretty darn good though. All 3 times.

With Wolfie though, zero there. Put it out and let it rip man.
