Default SAMMY & Mike in CLEVELAND!

Holy Crap. I wasn't expecting much. These guys just got back from Cabo and were ready to party. It was at a small Hard Rock outside of Cleveland. Sam's voice is fucking amazing. He hit most of the high notes and let Mike do the other ones. Mikey was in full party mode. The guy doesn't age and sounded bad ass! Tons of energy. The Zep, Montrose and Sammy songs were on fire and had the most energy. Finish What you Started was amazing as was a unique version of Right Now! The only clunkers in the set was Poundcake/When its love...they were tuned down and wierd. The rest of the songs were normal pitch. I thought the VH songs were the weakest. Couldve had a better selection. Ditch Poundcake and When it's love. Bring back Dreams and Top of the World, Summer Nights and 5150.

The LEVEE BREAKS was so epic, I couldn't believe it. Better than Zep played it and the best guitar playing I have ever heard out of Sam. Sam has gotten even better on guitar, so soulful. He played a LOT! I think he smoked Vic. Mikey even sang a verse. If Zep wanted a reunion and Plant wouldn't do it, Sam could with his eyes closed. He has become much more soulful.

I thought I was done with Sam, but he had new tricks and was a great time. His voice was amazing, and once again, loved the guitar.

If you are a rock fan and this doesn't move you, you are dead.

VH should give him a call. DLR can't hold a candle to him anymore, sadly. Wish DLR would tour and work on his voice and talent. He has lost so much...wasted talent

Sounds good, but have they changed the set list at all in the last 4 years?

Levee is one of the strongest songs from the Circle live. Might be their best performance.

But regarding the setlist, it's puzzling that with SO MANY Zep, VH, Montrose songs to choose from, they do the SAME songs over and over again.

A few facebook friends attended this show and one of them had a bunch of (from the) front row photos, videos and also backstage with Sam photos. Sadly they are not mine to share without contacting the person I haven't spoken to since maybe HS. Lol!

The reviews from all over were stellar and everyone who commented had a blast. People simply just love Sam on stage and he loves his fans right back tenfold.

Outside of the vhlinks, there are just a lot regular Joe's out there that go and enjoy a great show. Refreshing.

Man! I sure hope Sam plays a lot of the guitar on the new album. That's what is really missing from much of his post VH, CF output.

Always with Vic or some guest like Billy Duffy and such. Do it yourself again Sam. Let Vic handle the rhythm and just cut loose old man.

On all of those new Circle song videos from the Birthday Bash (in the Red Rocker/Odds and Ends thread) he's playing, so it's looks like it.

I was at that show too. Despite the setlist, he/they sounded so damn good. I posted a mini-review in the RR section basically says that he looked the best he has in over a decade. Thin, happy (as always), and energetic as can be. That, and of all the times I saw Mikey live and on video--including him more buzzed than usual on Cabo Wabo bootlegs even back from the Los Tres Gusanos in the '90s era--I have never heard him more drunk than that! He was actually slurring! Great crowd, too.
    It was a joyous night.

I'm glad they sounded good. I saw a clip of When It's Love from the birthday bash and Sammy sounded pretty rough. I also tried to take in to account that it was the birthday bash and it's pretty loose and Sam was probably in good form. I definitely think he is starting to loose his ability to sing the way he used to(and hey he's 71 from crying out loud). I understand that people age but I have never really liked hearing song dropped from the original keys and When It's Love sounded like it was dropped at least a whole step down.

Mike on the other hand sounds great as always. He may have been the guy that was treated poorly in VH but he is STILL married to the girl he dated in high school, looks and sounds great as ever and will probably outlive every VH member past and present(except Wolfgang). Mike is the main reason I want to see the Circle.
