Default John Mayer - Gravity w/ Extended Outro (Live)

Here's a live cover of Gravity I was as part of. The vocalist is Anthony Evans, a Gospel artist who's also been on The Voice and played The Beast Disney's production of Beauty and the Beast at the Hollywood Bowl. This was an absolute blast.

I'm using my HSS Partscaster with Klein S-5 pickups into the clean channel of my EVH 5150iii with a Wampler Ego Compressor and TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb. I kick in a Wampler Tumnus (Klone) and Keeley Red Dirt (Tube Screamer style) for the extended outro solo. Tumnus is set fairly low gain, Tube Screamer is set for a mid gain tone. When they're stacked together you get this big, clear, articulate lead sound that I just love. Listening back I could've boosted the tone knob on the Tube Screamer a bit, but oh well.

I'm not going to say anything about the playing because it goes without saying that it was top notch.

That was a really nice tone you got there. Nice and warm and the clean tone stuff reminded me of Jimi and SRV.

    Good stuff!
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Thanks, dude. Yeah I feel a lot of people sleep on the 5150iii's clean channel, it's really versatile. Put the right ingredients into it and you can get tones not even reminiscent of Ed.

Nice work Bro! That guy as one heck of a voice... I still think you should have broken out "Under a Glass Moon" solo for the outro... lol

Hey what wireless unit are you using? I was thinking in investing in one since our last show, the headliners guitar player ran all over the place and jumped up on the bar... Kinda made me feel stupid and boring..

    Absolutely fantastic, Jedi!
The singer has a great voice. Very smooth and soulfully performed, as was your guitar work. I love the tone(s) you got, and the 'in between' Strat sounds were great. Top notch.

I really like that kind of music and playing, and don't always want balls to the wall hard rock. You reminded me a bit of the other, lesser known, side of Richie Sambora. He does a lot of stuff in a bluesy rootsty kind of vein, with low gain and using Strat and Tele type guitars. In no way do I mean that as a detriment to you, as be's a hero of mine!

    Great stuff as usual!

Thanks dude! And I totally get what you're saying! I've got nothing but respect for Sambora as a player.

Very cool for a player of your calibre to say!
Thanks, and thanks for the awesome clips. You really look and sound like a natural.

What event are you playing at?

Btw, that singer sucks, he hits too many notes dead on.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Just another Sunday at my church. We're in a series of teachings themed around Gravity right now (God's pull on your life, comparison of Noah's Ark and his voyage with that of the Space Race, etc.), so we threw this in as a feature tune.

That was awesome. Great tone in both sections. Now I gotta go buy a Red Dirt.

Dude that pedal is so awesome. Keeley has the mini version of it on his site for $99. 4 different modes you can run it in. It replaced my full sized Keeley-modded TS-808. Haven't looked back.

That's awesome. Very "horn like". I could see a sax player doing something like that. That's hard for a lot of guitar players to pull off.
