I swear, just the first 15 seconds of Roth promoting the band is so good. Just so much excitement and so fluent for being so young, such a huge part, the guy was made for this. Blazing guitarist with a flamboyant front man, no wonder kids had to see the show.

I told you Wolfgang would open for them for some shows.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I forgot Ed repeated his solo a 2nd time on that demo of RTWD... amazing how tight the backing vocals were.

Dear God, I love Dave, but being around him 24x7 must have been exhausting.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

I wonder if he was like that 24/7 though. I bet he wasn't the same person on tape as he was sitting having a beer on the porch. Ever hear that recording of Eddie and Dave with some girls in one of their houses? Or hotel room? Somewhere, but he was more like just a dude. But I bet he could sorta be that arrogant guy once in a while . I'll try to find that clip.

Somewhere on here someone posted some photos of Dave at a radio station from right before the reunion. I remember the poster said he got to meet Dave and said he was very normal.

And throughout the Joe Rogan podcast, most of the time Dave is quite normal and only goes into frontman mode a few times.

I do believe 64 year old Dave offstage is way more mature and easy going than 24 year old Dave offstage mind you. I don't know that, just assume he is.

This reminds me of how great Rock radio used to be. This is what I grew up with and I wouldn't want it any other way. Kids today have no idea how great it was.

As for the demo...incredible how perfect the background vocals were even for a demo.

I've heard that from other sources as well. He really is doing a bit as DLR.

Should start at 7:16 but otherwise that's where it starts. DLR is being "Dave" but more to impress girls. Not doing his car salesman, pre-written rhymes and ironic comments. Just being "cool". I could deal with this Dave, I guess.

I don't think Dave is 'on' 24/7, and am sure he has his ADD-less moments and days where he comes across as normal, yet I'm also sure the persona outweighs the person by a high margin... I couldn't do it. "Monkey Hour" for the majority of the time? Hard pass for me, and it's noth just Roth. There are people I know and see everyday who have that same, constant, rambling banter to them... The older I get? The less I like it.
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - A very wise fan.

I have this interview on my "Van Halen On Fire" bootleg CD which I think I bought at Middle Earth Records in Downey, CA in the summer of 1996.
