Batio - Troy Grady
I know Troy Grady is trying to prove that all the fast pickers pickslant and edge pick but has anyone shown him Michael Batio? The guy keeps his pick dead centre and perpendicular to the string - no slanting whatsoever.

Batio rubs a lot of folks the wrong way, yet has incredible technique IMO.
I think he's got a lot of boxes ticked, in terms of execution and chops, yet he leaves me flat from a musical standpoint.
It's impressive from a 'wow' angle, yet I never had the urge to seek out his cds or anything. Same with Impelliteri, whom is also a top notch shredder."There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - A very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

He recently had my old teacher from the early 90's on, Joe Stump.
When i studied with Joe, he always stressed "you gotta alternate pick everything, unless
you're doing legato style."
Turns out Joe didn't realize he was mixing alternate picking with economy (mini sweep picking).
I remember noticing that, but he said, Nah, i only do sweeps for arpeggio ideas.
I studied with both Joe & Toshi Iseda, when Toshi lived in Boston & graduated Berklee.
Joe was a great guy, Toshi....meh...he just wanted your money.
