It just gives more fodder to those who love to say "Sam would've went the way of Billy Squire if not for VH".

I expect better talent from Sam being so prolific and respected in the biz. He's got a tv show, restaurants, The Circle, rum/tequila empire etc and REO and Vince Neil is the best he can land for this annual debut? Am I expecting Metallica or The Stones? No but c'mon. Got to do better than ribfest lineups.

Dude booking gigs is no walk in the park. Maybe no one else was available on that date, and the city of Huntington beach said it's the only date available. Sam doesn't lack connection in the biz, even more so after doing his TV show.

As Sam says, I think it is more about who he likes to hang out with than how big their name is.

Also, let's not forget, Sam likes things to make money. Yeah, he could get Metallica, but that would be damn expensive, and maybe not the crowd he wants to bring in as well. Knowing Sam this was well thought out, will be a huge draw, a fun event, and have a profit at the end. If this was on my coast, I would definitely go if I could.

I like a few REO songs. I wouldn’t mind seeing them in concert ONCE.

He’s putting on a cool event. Good for him. It’s not like true rock fans have to rush the stage during REO. I’m not a big Sam fan, but I’d go if I was in So Cal., if for nothing else the food and the cars.

Its cool he is doing something but ditch the Circle. Do Sammy solo, The Other Half or since Joe is there, Chickenfoot. Ditch The Butcher and get rid of the original Wolfgang V1, Bonham.

Yes its better than being on hiatus or whatever VH is doing but just because its better, doesn't mean its good. The Circle needed to die 2 years ago

    This.

But It's all the same shit with a different label. Even if it was solo Sam, it would still be Sam, Mike, and Vic with Satriani sometimes thrown in.

Sam's musical career just isn't that appealing to me. "Oh, Sam has a new project..I wonder who the special guest guitar player will be...oh it's Joe again. Who's playing bass? Oh...it's Michael Anthony again. What? A new drummer? No Bonham? Oh I see, It's Kenny Aronoff". Blah.

As much as I don't like VH mach 4...they announce something like a new tour or album and I'm going to be VERY curious, my shit talking notwithstanding.

Since it is in their town may have been good to add The Offspring. Create a little diversity from straight classic rock and they draw very well in their home town.

I actually like REO, they use to be good live but yeah comes with a side of cheese no doubt.

And the only reason that REO is a co-headliner is that Sam and Cronin are buddies and Speedwagon will play for sushi money anywhere. Didn't Sam interview for his show?

If I was in So Cal I would go and be the dirty old man looking at all the young chicks. Cronin can still sing last time I saw him was over ten years ago he was fine then. Just go eat or piss when Vince comes on.

A friend of mine got free tix to see REO back in 84 or 85. He asked if I wanted to go, no thanks.
Then he said Cheap Trick was opening. Cheap Trick was great. I don't remember one single moment of REO's set.

And Vince Neil. I saw him open up for VH in the early 90's. One of the WORST openers I've ever seen.

REO was a great live act back in the day. And yes, Gary Richrath is one of the great unsung guitar heroes.
