I can't remember if WWII In Color covers this, but another thing, Rommel may very well have been the very best strategic field commander in all of WWII but he didn't have, or get, the resources he needed to win the campaign in Africa(i.e. FUEL for his tanks).

If you talk to people who have been through West Point and the War College, the WW2 general they will talk your ear off about isn't Rommel or Patton, is Heinz Guderian.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

USS New Jersey in Vietnam. Was incredibly effective, able to knock out targets that even B-52 strikes couldn't. During peace talks with North Vietnam, ship was singled out as a "destabilizing presence". Ship was about to be rotated back for another tour, even to the point of perishables being brought onboard when word came down that she had been decommissioned once again. Story was buried, came out during Iowa-class recommissioning talks in the late 80's.

The New Jersey is docked and open for tours in Camden, NJ, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.

Yes. Visit the New Jersey if youíre on the east coast. The Iowa on the west, in San Pedro, just north of Long Beach.

Which battleship is in Norfolk, VA? I know there is another one there.

EDIT - I looked it up, the Wisconsin - the fourth child of the Iowa Class.

Yes, and the Missouri is at Pearl Harbor, just up channel from the Arizona. We are fortunate to have all 4 Iowa's as museums.

I gained a newfound appreciation for how shrewd FDR was after watching that.

Pearl Harbor is quite the somber place. Highly recommend checking it out if you have the chance, especially if you have an interest in history.

Yes, my unit (325 AIR) participated in those Blackhawk jumps from time to time around Ft Bragg. Dangerous business that.
From one (old and crusty) paratrooper to another,,, Rest in peace, Spc. Jenks.
