The Nimitz pulls into San Diego after unloading the air wing. It was the longest carrier deployment of a carrier since the Cold War all while quarantining without port calls.

He really downplayed it when asked, but yeah, reports vary from 6-8 shots.

You can see his missing middle finger on his right hand on a couple of the Star Trek episodes, I guess they forgot the prosthetic every once in a while.

I have this guy that comes into work a fair amount. We’ve talked a few times and I am convinced this guy is the baddest ass dude I’ve ever met.

He grew up in Germany, was actually in the hitler youth program, emigrated to America after WWII, served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, worked as a blue collar worker, and he’s still up and kicking buying cedar and birch wood for his garden at the age of 90.

These are the stories that should be told.

I decided to start studying WW2 a couple of months ago. I'm currently watching an 8 episode series on Netflix titled WW2 IN COLOR which highlights some of the major battles during the war.

That is a GREAT series. WWII has been my favorite historical period to study since I was about 8 years old. Not so sure Westernized countries today could come together and societies make the sacrifices necessary to defeat such evil as they did back then.

That's a great series. If you can ever find WW2 from Space, I highly recommend that as well. It's no longer available on YouTube (I just checked), but they do now have WW2 from Space the Normandy Invasion and WW2 from Space Hiroshima that I haven't watched, so I am going to queue those up soon.

The main thing I learned from WW2 from Space was how FDR made sure that even though Britain might survive, if they do, the British Empire was over, FDR made sure of that.

I find the documentary to be very interesting. the sheer effectiveness of the blitzkrieg is-not in a good way-awesome. they were so effective at the start. the Nazi air force is scary as hell with those whistles on them.

I'm looking forward to getting into this a bit more....I'm totally burnt out on the JFK stuff.....lol
