Looks great, Ted! Cool color choice. Now get that boy a proper ride cymbal to his right!

Just saw this thread too. You did great. I breathed a sigh of relief that you got him the percussion kit. Electric kits blow. I just gave one away days ago that someone had given me days before, and having it here only reinforced my reasoning for never owning one. I never liked them at all. I played drums for 20 years (TAMA mostly). Those electric kits aren't drums. They're triggered digital pads and feel NOTHING like a real kit. Big dif. Don't learn on that. Well played getting your boy behind a REAL kit, dude. That Pearl's a great starter (and good call on the head pads too for your own sanity).

Yep, and the cool thing is nowadays, if he progresses and wants to stick with it, you can get some pretty nice maple kits at affordable prices. The Ludwig Evolution 6pc Maple kits for around a $1000 is a good example.

Thanks guys. Heís really taken interest and seems to have a fairly good natural sense of rhythm. Extra cymbals, etc will be added Iím sure. Right now it needs more cowbell!!!

Hey, Ted, how's your boy's drumming coming along? Is he sufficiently driving your wife crazy?

Heís doing well. The sound off pads were cheap at twice the price and really help keep the sanity.
