Well then Sam needs to find someone who will that can help draw a crowd and excite people. No offense to Vic--I like him--but most do not clearly.

And, as much as I love Zep (my favorite band outside of VH and its derivatives), and as great as he sings them, he shouldn't be celebrating their catalogue and attach himself to their legacy during the latter part of his career as he was not in Led Zeppelin.

I mean, I love it, but he's gotta ace that sometime soon and focus on his own legacy. And in the meantime mix in some other fuckin' Zeppelin songs for goodness sakes.

They play Zep only because of Jason, man. Jason's the reason they cover Zep.

Who the hell's Jason? Obviously, but no matter what the reason is, it's still weird that he's doing it.

Er....you do know that Sam's drummer in the Circle is Jason Bonham, son of John Bonham, he of Zeppelin fame. That's why they're doing it. Jason does a whole Led Zeppelin Experience thing when he solo tours and showcases Zep's tracks. He's actually a pretty damned good skin man. Perhaps not as legendary as his dad Bonzo, but few are.

So it cuts down as such...Vic's in the band, so Sam plays solo/Wabos tunes, Mike's in the band, so Sam plays Sam Halen tunes, Jason's in the band, so Sam plays Zep tunes. It's pretty much a cover band, the Circle. They don't have any original material to date, but maybe next year Sam's gonna change that, I dunno.

I imagine that Sam and Mike would be okay with tossing in a couple Sam Halen tracks in their sets, but Joe and Chad are less enthused about that.
That argument was sound in 2009. Today, I think it would make sense for one of the encore tunes be a VH song. I wouldn't agree with them covering more than one tune but considering that Van Halen will likely never play another song from those four albums live again on planet earth, why not? But considering CF hasn't toured since 2012 (a paltry 20 shows or whatever it was), it's a moot point anyway.

    Fuck Sam and Fuck Satriani.

Not that CF will reconvene but if they do...I wanna hear some Sam Halen by a good guitar player.

You're millionaires who've experienced extreme highs and lows in your careers but you snowflakes are afraid of comparisons?

If you've attended CF shows, there's not really any time when you start jonesing for some VH tunes. They wouldn't really fit in the setlist. I'd rather hear them play "Highway Star." It's really a different band, with a different vibe, maybe more bluesy.

Because Sam and Mike already cover that in the Circle.

I agree with that one hundred percent. I don't wanna hear Sam Halen at CF whatsoever. It's nice that Mike and Sam have a dealio outside of VH, one that's seriously rocking I might add. Chad and Joe just aren't gonna sub for Al and Ed, and I don't want 'em to. CF has enough material to play all originals and a cover or two. I don't actively hanker for VH just 'cause Sammy and Mike are there. CF is its own muzak, and I'm better for it. One of my top five concerts of all time is the first road test run they did in '09. Un-be-lievable. A truly epic gig, monster power playing from all four players, they blew doors on any live show VH has done since '95. Crazy. I hate saying it, I never woulda thought it beforehand, but the proof was in the puddin'. That first tour showcasing that first album, there was a kind of chemistry that I have yet to see repeated by them. Maybe it was a one time thing, I dunno.

Nope. Pretty sure I'd want the 800 lb gorilla in the room acknowledged.

I don't wanna hear Montrose. I don't wanna hear Highway Star.

Sam's been whining a long time about VH. I dont wanna hear Vic The Butcher. Sam has a great player in Satriani.

If that's the case...NO covers of anything. Play both albums in their entirety and stop making exuses for these guys and why VH would be out of place with CF.

We do. Itís called the circle lol. You just want joe to play it instead of Vic.

Ainít gonna happen. Again I say to you...you shouldíve attended the reunion shows in tahoe. 😎😉

Very few people (redheads) at all the CF shows Iíve attended were missing Van Halen. A few of the women up front mightíve tossed out a call for Van Hagar here and there I guess. But everybody was pretty much there to hear live CF.

I will say one thing about the circle. They covered only 1 CF track at the show I attended in September. Bigfoot. It was not good. Apparently CF can only rightfully be played by Joe. For me anyway. Itís prob true for VH and EVH too I admit. Iím not as hard on Vic as others here, heís a good axe man, but the truth is, Sammyís played with two of the best axe men on earth and strangely or not, those two guitaristsí original compositions are very difficult to replicate in tone and soul it seems.

It was queensryche yes. Good show, but the show I was referring to for myself was at the Roxy.

Best opener for CF by far was Davy Knowles. That kidís got mad chops.
